Uploading pictures, captions and comments en mass at once - is there a format to use?

I have a large number of pictures and would like to be able to upload them all at once to albums in Gallery 1.5.1. The software runs fine, but is there a CSV format or something that I can use to upload comments with captions and picture files all at once? Do I need to deserialize the .dat files and then map them and then serialize a CSV file in the same format and replace the .dat files? Or is there an easier way?
