I have just installed Gallery and have a few queries:

1) Is it possible to use my own thumbnails instead of getting Gallery to create them?

2) If I use the `Add Items from Local Server', I can import/create many albums at once by importing a number of dorectories. How can I make the default thumbnail to be say 100x100 rather than the default 150.

3) How can I change the layout of the thumbnail page (ie 5-8 across) rather that the default of 3.

4) If I have say 100 Galleries on my local server Gallery 001, Gallery 002 etc importing all from local server would be the easiest way ti import them into Gallery?

I did look in the forums, but I couldn't find the answers.

Thanks
Ernie

Did you bother looking in the G2 software for more than a few seconds? Granted, some of your questions are mildly obscure, but most of them are... easy.

1) Sort of, you can use the "custom thumbnail" module that allows you to upload a new thumbnail AFTER, but not during upload. This would be more useful when you want a totally different thumbnail for an image for some reason, but of course you can do anything you want with it.

2) Change the thumbnail size for that album or for your entire gallery from 150px to 100px.

3) Edit the album or theme's default col/row settings

4) Go into more detail, do you mean 100 installations of G1? Do you mean 100 directories full of images? If the latter, move all 100 dirs into one single dir and use the add from local server option. It is recursive and will re-create the structure of the dir you import.

For item 1), check out the Auto Highlight by Filename module listed on this page: http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:UserContributions#Modules

I have no idea how up to date it is with the current version of G2, but can't see it taking much to get it up to date if needed.
