Missing albums and other related problems

My server got hacked into a few weeks ago and had a number of system files changed. Everything was rebuilt from scratch, with all new software installations and then the data from the website was restored. Unfortunately there are some problems left from all this, and one of them is with my gallery installation. I've upgraded the gallery to v1.5-pl1 since the rebuilding and I have a number of problems I need help fixing. The first is that the file that keeps track of the order the albums is in seems to be corrupted. The last few albums in my gallery don't show, and if I try to reorder an album it doesn't necessarilly end up in the order I specified. When I log in as admin I get a note that 8 albums are out of date with a link to update them, but the link just opens a new blank window. On the Admin Options page neither the "Find Orphans" nor the "Validate Albums" links do anything. I installed Gallery v2 hoping that version would allow me to get past the problems, but apparently can't move the albums from v1 without getting v1 working right anyway. Any thoughts on how I might proceed? It I didn't have 9,000+ images I'd think about rebuilding everything manually, but obviously that's not a good option.
