How to let members sign up?

Whenever I go to my Gallery and log out, I only have the option to login, not to sign up for an account. How can I change this so that people can sign up for an account. Also, how do I set permissions so that those users who sign up can add photos, and edit the ones they add, but not others?

register -> install and activate the register module in site admin -> modules. maybe you need to download the registration module from the download page before.

@permissions:
give them a user album such that they can do what they want in their own album -> useralbum module.
else: impossible, we don't yet have special permissions for owners of items.
