The following page mentions that "hide photo" feature of G1 is back in G2. But I still don't see it.
http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/G1-G2_Comparison#Feature_Chart

The "hide photo" feature was so so much easier to use for my wife than manage the more complicated G2 permissions.

thanks
- Abhi

The page says that it's going to be availible after 2.0, and it is - but not in the main CVS yet.

It can be found at http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/gallery-contrib/HiddenPasswordProtection/

There is a single file called code.tar that contains 3 tarballs.

Copy all to modules/ ?? Or, how do you apply it? Anyone have this working? Looks cool.

There appears to be a patch you need to apply that patches several core files (corediff.txt) and two modules (hidden and password) in that .tar file.

I'd wait for it to be "officially" released before you start mucking about with patching and such.

That's my feeling too. Wait for it to be incorporated.

A reason this has become topical is that there is a small group of wedding photographers that see potential in G2 and a key feature they felt would be quite useful was for the ability of the bride/groom to be able to go in a "hide" or make private particular photographs from the friends and family. I knew that giving the bride/groom admin privs and then supplying a tutorial to drop into the permissions schema was a tough nut to crack. A hide photo feature would make life tons easier for this kind of function.

I see a use for this as an 'approvals' function.

I think the hide feature is lot easier to use for non-techies.

Also couple of feature requests:
- The hide feature should override the album permissions. For example, I should be able to say an album is visible to all, but still have hidden pics in it. Changing the permissions on the album should not change the permissions on the hidden pics.

- A way to list all hidden pics in an album -- for easy administration. To be able to switch from hiding a list of files to unhiding them.

AbhiSachdev----
Sample pictures sent to a client to
obtain their 'approval' for publication
ie prior to open viewing on the internet.
----best wishes, Robert
