Is there any way to get hotlinking to work under IIS6 with gallery2? I used to hotlink gallery1 resized images on forums the links looked like this.. http://www.geekopolis.com/gallery/albums/spring05/DSCN2479.sized.jpg I cannot figure out how to do this with gallery2, all the forums reject any hotlink that does not end in .jpg is there any hotfix to add jpg to the new image url? a similar resized image on gallery2 looks like this if I can add .jpg to the end of that, I'm pretty sure most forums will accept it if it's an easy hack somone please fill me in, but try to be easy on me, I'm not a programmer |

Ok, so I can just put in this url and the browser takes it
http://www.geekopolis.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=5329&g2_serialNumber=1.jpg
but hotlinking off forums rejects it still

the next version of g2 will have ISAPI and php path info support, so you'll get short urls for IIS too.
meanwhile i can only recommend using Apache2 even on windows. apache2 is free and most admins prefer it anyway.

All of our sites are asp.net, pretty sure I'm stuck with iis
unless I bring in one of my home computers with linux & apache, it's looking more and more like that's what I'll do, a 1ghz box should be fine

you can ask pelle if he can send you a development version of the rewrite module 1.1.0. then you get ISAPI rewrite support.
not sure when pelle will officially release rewrite 1.1.0, maybe in a month or so.

As a matter of fact, I'd like someone to test it other than me.
If you want to test it out I could send you an experimental version (no guarantee that it'll work so I suggest you test it out on a clean Gallery install first).
All I can say is that it works for me, on IIS 5 with win XP...
Intrested?

I've already moved to a LAMP server, I needed to get off that XP machine anyway, I just loaded up an old 1ghz desktop with ubuntu in server mode, 20 gig for pictures just for me!
