Hi all,

I am new to Gallery 2 and I have some questions about admin...

I see that registered users can access many more settings than admin !
examples : theme, thumbail size, resize of the pics, sorting preferences, row/columns per album, view/not EXIF data, etc....

All these features have default settings. BUT I CANNOT FIND the way to edit theses defaults settings for the "registered users" group.

I am sure it is simple but I ... cannot find these default settings in admin panel

Many thanks

nope, incorrect.
the admin can access everything.
users with edit permission can access this stuff too.

settings don't have defaults per group.
settings are mostly per album.
each album has a theme setting.
each album has a resize sizes, thumbnail size setting. etc.

there are global theme defaults for all albums in
site admin -> themes

but these theme defaults can be overriden by any album. and every user that has edit album permission for a specific album can edit its settings.

there are no global default settings for resize sizes and thumbnail size.
but the root album (the top container) has also resize size / thumbnail size settings. and all new albums inherit the settings of its parent album.
so the settings of the root album could be seen as defaults.

BTW you mean that it is not possible to keep a similar design on all albums and that each user (album) can choos his own design, size, column, rows ...

So the admin cannot control the design of his website if he allows users to create galleries.

Is it right or incorrect ?

that's right. if you have multiple themes active (as admin you can choose which themes to activate = offer), then the users can choose from the active themes for the albums where they have edit album permission.

we plan to introduce more detailed permissions, e.g. edit theme, but not right now.
