I have pictures I've taken in the old days as well as now-a-days with my digital camera. I want to put these in boxes and store them in the garage - but my son says I'll ruin them if they get in that heat or the moisture.... yikes! Don't want that but I do need to get them out of the house.
Can anyone tell me what is the best way to store pictures?
thanks

i'm no photographer, just a guess:
- very dark (in a box) (no sunlight!)
- very dry (air)
- vacuum
- 15° Celsius or so
i'm sure you'll find real answers with google or someone else here might know.

I did a google but not much came up.
I was thinking, dark box, put all albums in a plastic garbage bag before storing them in the box. Not sure what 15° Celsius is but the garage does get warm in the summer. So, I'm concerned about the plastic in the box... but heck, that sounds good!
thank you, Valiant.

Gaynel,
I would strongly suggest investing in a scanner. scan your photos at 400dpi (resolution) minimum (that should produce a 1600x something photo which i believe is 2 mega pixels.
Then storing them alongside your digital photos. They may not be "kodak" but they will last forever (providing backups (dvd, etc)).
Though its nice to have an old fashioned photo album. Dry, dark, comfortable temperatures. I would say in the house in a closet, in a sealed box (dust) would be just fine.

- thanks for the reply - I have a scanner but we're talking lots and lots of photo albums! I plan to scan once I retire (15-20 years from now) so the best I can do is the "closet" thing. Many thanks for your reply.
