drupal's login to g2, how do the registrations relate? errors

i had a good [test]install of drupal and g2.

i was making very minor adjustments --just to see what's what and what i got and where-- in the g2 admin. i made a few in the drupal admin as well --these were not customizations, simply turning stuff on and off never turned off the gallery.module in drupal and i did not turn off the image block in g2.

suddenly, i can see my g2 block in drupal but not image, just the image's name.

as for what follows, i cannot see how my/admin username (in either program) would affect not showing the g2 image in the block on drupal main page before any logging in takes place, i.e., that should also show (in my fairly default setup).

i was checking out g2's registration module and set it off of its default of admin must approve to "email confirmation."
once i got a message from drupal saying it could not login to g2.
once to said to configure g2, but it was configured.

the only PROBLEM is no image --there is the image name and all, just no actual picture.

how does g2' registration work when g2 is embedded into drupal?
will drupal's registration work for all and i can turn off g2's register module?

can i prevent web access to my gallery2 site (standalone) and have it only accessible (and register"able" from Drupal... how would i do that?
