Im getting a bit tired of re-working all the code in wordpress and even so its limited to what I really would like. I don't mind if its a blog platform or a more heavy cms like drupal or mambo but im looking for these basic features: good user lvl functionality, I want registered users to be able to login and write static pages, have a profile, and the use of gallery2 seemlessly and be able to display it very clean. Ive looked around for something with this kind of user level control as well as a simple interface (admin, templates, plug-ins, etc) but theres so many out there now.

hard to say which g2 integration is the "best" right now. i like what joomla/g2 and wp/g2 have accomplished. drupal/g2 is also quite advanced. i myself integrated g2 into xaraya, but i'm not using it for my own website and the integration isn't as nice (from the features and the default look) as the drupal/joomla/wp integrations since i didn't work a lot on it since last winter.
i'd evaluate the few candidates on your own. just install them, give'em a go.

Ya think im going to give nucleus and joomla a try, maybe drupal to, its kind of funny because I want more features than what most of the blog platforms offer but not as many features as the full blown cms's. I like wp's ease of use with gallery atm especially with ozregs plug-in, but the wp backend is still lacking even with thier next release focusing on a whole new user core. The wp community is so strong though I might stick around and try the 2.0 release.

Obviously I prefer Joomla/Mambo. Excellent integration available currently from the link below.
The next release (coming soon) will be even better!
