Since people waste a ton of time and energy trying to open bunk zip files downloaded with ie on the menalto site, it would be nice to place a big fat sticky warning somewhere. This is the only site I know of that you need to use a specific browser to download zip files that will actually open. If I missed this big fat sticky somewhere, pardon me. Yeah, I know, I should use firefox all-the-time, but I don't because I like to see what my clients see most of the time. thanks ps..please move this if it is posted in the wrong place |

Numerous references and examples to problems in this thread all the way through, many in the last few pages. http://gallery.menalto.com/node/33285 and I just ran into another here: http://gallery.menalto.com/node/37524 I will start documenting the others. |

minoltamaniac, turns out that this was an issue with mod_deflate (an Apache module that compresses data when it sends it over the net) trying to compress zip files. I've fixed it for zip files. Let me know if the problem recurs. If you try again with IE on a file that previously was problematic and you still see the problem, try flushing your cache (I had to do that to test it after I fixed it). |
