Do I need to upgrade to 1.5 before moving to g2?

My main question is:

Do I need to migrate my v1.4.2 Gallery to 1.5 before goint to 2.0.2?

I've spent some time going through the forums before proceeding and have deduced the following:

1) I need to run Find Orphans script.
It does not exist in 1.4.2 (logged in as admin and it is not a choice in the admin popup menu).

2) I need to run the validate albums script but that can't once again because it is not a choice in the admin menu (BTW I did look for the scripts in the tools directory and the files are not there so I am not surprised it is not in the admin window.

3) It sounds like it would be best to import a few albums at a time when I do migrate instead of doing them all at once. I have not been a regular user of the gallery so I am not real familiar with it, but it does not look too complicated. The g1 gallery I plan to migrate has over 600 albums (lots of photos!!!). So doing a few at first, and then maybe updating them in batches of 10-50 at a time might be smart.

4) Looking for any other people who have gone through the migration and want to share tips, I would be grateful. I have seen some others posted within the forum.

the g2 migration should be the most trouble free if you upgrade to 1.5.1 first. You don't _have_ to run find orphans or the album verifier, but they make sure you get all of your data visible in G1 before the migration.

If you have a beefy enough server, you can do the whole migration at once. I've regularily done 6000 images on a 700mhz p3/384mb server, but php is allowed to take up as much ram as it wants and I don't recall how much it actually used.

I'm working on the upgrade to 1.5.1.

My server is beefy enough and I've set the ram for php to 64MB (it might be a bit overkill, but it had been running out of ram after I doubled it to 16MB last time).
