this is most likely a "newbie" question and of course i'll obligingly blush, but i've looked for a similar issue and as yet, on a couple of forums, have not been able to aptly it seems word my search queries in a fashion that allow my issue to be resolved. to wit: gallery2 installation is working fine component for joomla integration is installed and appears to be working fine, but only until one clicks on an album title. at that point the user is directed to the default site page, and NOT to the gallery. Joomla Site Standalone gallery: url for albums http://www.cajebo.com/cajeboomla/v/pictures/ http://www.cajebo.com/cajeboomla/v/thevids/ might someone offer me the solution? i know that somewhere between the installation of the .09 bridge and the .10 bridge, i've inadverdently gained the dreaded "/" trailing slash AFTER my path-to-joomla. thanks in advance to all that can assist, Michael {{{let me get confident enough to be humble}}} |

(ERROR_CONFIGURATION_REQUIRED
-> go to your g2 -> site admin -> modules: install and activate the imageblock module.
also, disable the url rewrite module, it's not properly configured for your embedded g2.

VALIANT!
Indeed you are.
Thank you for the fix. And thank you for allowing me once again to walk in a presumably straight line.
But, just like every other molehill-mountain requestor, i've got another question now with regard to what is or is probably not a newly uncovered issue.
Prior to the aforementioned 'fix', there was no issue at all with regard to successful viewing of posted video file. Now however, the player loads, but after about 30 seconds, the following is offered as an error:
(stop sign icon) Playlist format is not recognized.
Now it goes without saying that i've checked/tested my ffmpeg settings, and have run mainenance sweeps on the DB, so i'm not sure what at this point might be causing this error.
If you can offer assistance, so much more thankful i shall become.
In the interim, i'll upload a different .wmv file and see what becomes of that.
Thanks in advance!
Michael

ffmpeg isn't involved in playing / showing a video in g2.
ffmpeg identifies the video, its dimensions and generates a thumbnail from the video.
when playing a video in g2, the involved components are:
- your browser and its file -> player associations
- your media player and the codex/containers it can play
- g2 setting correct HTML tags and setting correct HTTP headers which are interpreted by your browser to show an embedded movie player and to start the correct player for the video, g2 sending the movie file
did your player play the video correctly for 30 seconds and then show the error or didn't it even start playing the video?
- please post a phpinfo link
- a link to a video in your g2
- specify which OS / browser / player you're using.

Thank you again Valiant.
I just got finished uploading (via "From Local Server) a second video (a little over 4 megs in size). After it was through transferring from the ftp folder to the album, lo and behold, there it was, WITH it's thumbnail. I'm thinking that with the first video i put in the gallery, i had unknowingly 'unchecked' the create thumbnail box.
So yes, as you described above, ffmpeg did its job.
after clicking on the thumbnail/title, one is taken to a page where the 'player' is loaded/drawn. there is no playing of the video that occurs.
the little blue box is highlighted in the player, but then, after several or more seconds, the error "the playlist format is not recognized".
so, no, did not play at all.

os/browser/player spefications mac os 10.3.9; firefox 1.5; windows media plug-in
Ditto with IE for Mac (5.2.3), Safari (1.3.1), and of course Netscape (7.2)
Checked the site on a WindowsXP machine.
There it worked perfectly, so this must be centered simply on:
Macs or specifically my workstation now for some reason.
phpinfo link i'm not sure what you mean here. I'm able to view a phpinfo page from within my control panel, and if that's what you're needing to see, i've placed a "copy" of it here: http://www.cajebo.com/cjb_gallery/phpinfo.html
Hope this helps. Just knowing there is someone like you Valient reading the boards is almost help enough.
Warm regards,
Michael

yes, i will soon get to the bottom of that i'm sure. as i mentioned, it works fine on an office XP we've got here, as well, and more importantly perhaps , on the client's workstation.
i guess this is one of the reasons that we macHeads should be somewhat pleased that most of the freeWorld is on OTA systems.
(Other Than Apple)
Seriously though, it perturbs me that it is not working. I'll let you know when and how the issue has been solved/rectified.
Thanks again for you help valiant!
Michael
P.S. If there are any other folks on Macs reading this thread, or know of a macHead, by all means see if you can get the videos to play on those systems.

Interesting Source Code Differences
I'm still on the "Playlist not recognized" quest...
During my continuing adventures, I've discovered the following:
This is the "source code" created by my gallery2 album item.
Windows users seem NOT to have a problem viewing the video (.wmv) file, whereas on my Macintosh is doesn't play. Player is visible, but as mentioned above, "Playlist format... blah blah"
<object classid="CLSID:05589FA1-C356-11CE-BF01-00AA0055595A" width="320" height="290" id="IFid1" class="ImageFrame_image">
<param name="ShowDisplay" value="0"/>
<param name="ShowControls" value="1"/>
<param name="AutoStart" value="1"/>
<param name="AutoRewind" value="-1"/>
<param name="Volume" value="0"/>
<param name="FileName" value="http://www.cajebo.com/cjb_gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=41&g2_serialNumber=1"/>
<embed src="http://www.cajebo.com/cjb_gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=41&g2_serialNumber=1" width="320" height="290" type="video/x-ms-wmv" controller="true" autoplay="true" loop="false"/>
<noembed>
<a href="http://www.cajebo.com/cjb_gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=41">
Download movie
</a>
</noembed>
</object>
However, during my exhaustive search online, i came across a gallery that was basically a demonstration for their media plug-in/module for Gallery 1.5 I believe.
I had not problem viewing most of the files there,and below is the "source code" for an album item at
http://langleycom.com/ipw-web/gallery/movie121212/Extreme_Tubing
There are some marked differences in the way the "file" is embedded.
<!-- begin embedded WindowsMedia file... -->
<OBJECT id="mediaPlayer" width="320" height="290" classid="CLSID:22d6f312-b0f6-11d0-94ab-0080c74c7e95" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject">
<param name="fileName" value="http://langleycom.com/ipw-web/gallery/albums/movie121212/Extreme_Tubing.wmv">
<param name="animationatStart" value="true">
<param name="transparentatStart" value="true">
<param name="autoStart" value="true">
<param name="showControls" value="true">
<param name="loop" value="false">
<EMBED type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" id="mediaPlayer" name="mediaPlayer" displaysize="4" autosize="-1" bgcolor="darkblue" showcontrols="true" showtracker="-1" showdisplay="0" showstatusbar="-1" videoborder3d="-1" width="320" height="290"src="http://langleycom.com/ipw-web/gallery/albums/movie121212/Extreme_Tubing.wmv" autostart="true" designtimesp="5311" loop="false">
</EMBED>
</OBJECT>
<!-- ...end embedded WindowsMedia file -->
So, as i'm definitely not well versed enough yet in the inner core/includes workings of Gallery2, i'm wondering if anyone might know why this difference in writing of embed code exists, and if there is anything to do about it?
Thanks, in advance i'm sure to Valiant, and of course to anyone else that can help me solve this issue.

yeah, there are various way to embed a movie and it's a difficult task to find a way that works with all major players/browsers/operating systems.
if you found something that works in more permutations that what we have now, please submit a patch. right now i don't have the time to look into an improvement and check everything myself.

I guess i should have inlcuded the "base" url for the site i was mentioning above:
http://langleycom.com/ipw-web/gallery/mods/G2video
that's the link to the page where a mod can be downloaded, but althought the title of the "Page" says "Floridave's G1 :: Gallery Mods - Download :: G2video", i'm really not sure if it is for G1 or G2 or somewhere in between.
The url for his mod download page is:
http://langleycom.com/ipw-web/gallery/mods
And his "home page" url is:
http://langleycom.com/ipw-web/gallery/albums.php
thanks Valiant
best regards,
Michael
