I've been using G1 very several years. ( http://packetmonkey.net/gallery ) I just installed G2 a few days ago and one feature I'm severely missing is the ability to control how many colums/rows are displayed in the main gallery/album page, versus subalbums.

See: http://packetmonkey.net/g2

Now, I'm first curious why the Siriux theme breaks up my albums by year, displaying 2003, then 2004, then 2003 again - which is something I'd like to disable, but that's a separate issue. Secondly, Siriux seems to be locked into a 2-column view and I see no options to change that in the backend. I wouldn't mind to display 2 colums of albums because that fits best with my Joomla template. However, once I enter an album, I'd like to display 3, maybe 4 items wide. However, as far as I can tell, my limitation of "2 columns" is due to the option being gallery-wide. Am I missing something?

you can go into your subalbum, click "edit album -> themes" and change the nr of columns/rows there.
or change the settings of the root album and keep the rest to the default values.

site admin -> themes - just sets the default values
edit album -> theme - overrides the default values for a specific album.
