The technology that the print service API was built on only allows one pricelist/checkout. so it causes a conflict, this is why the module currently doesn't support it. Once the holidays are over, we plan on rewriting some of our features, and adding some new features. The ability to order form multiple pricelists is high on that list.

Just in process of redeveloping my gallery look and have examined the potential of using Digibug for image printing/sales - big downside for me is that I am in the United Kingdom and would really want my buyers (likely to be UK residents) to see GBP (£) rather than USD ($)- any chance that this might be something you would consider?
Internationization is something we are discussing, not just from what a user sees, but also from where items are printed. It is something we want to offer to our customers, we just haven't decided on the correct approach for it. We don't have an ETA as to when it would have be implemented though.

James- thanks for your rapid response to my query around separate pricing structures. For now, I'm going to use gallery's multisite capacity and create different instances of gallery on different subdomains for each price structure. Bit of a pain, but it should suffice.
Did you have any thoughts about the mailing labels, and what instruction or hack could be sent with an order to defeat images appearing on mail labels? I'd think of it as the 'plain brown wrapper option'- something I'd like to be able to offer any purchasers from my albums.
thanks

eyes_up,
I have been getting around this by using coupon codes. I have my albums password-protected anyway, so if one albums should have different (ie lower) prices I put the coupon code in the album desciption and let them know if they forget to use the coupon I can't fix it. It's been working perfect, I also use it to order my own prints at wholesale.

thanks, WItch- that looks like a good alternate strategy. If I go beyond three categories of pricing & viewing (models, clients & ordinary viewers) I'll use that.
take care

Thanks, James.
Another Update:
I emailed AGAIN about the credit that I was supposed to get the very next day. "Hi Bill, I still haven't gotten my money back for those 2 orders. 110362 & 110364 placed on 11/27. Michelle" I got this response: "A credit was issued for DIG-110155 of $30.93 on 12/8/06. Wasn't 110155 the replacement order for 110362 & 110364?" Well, I have not received and credits and it should not surprise you that this is the totally wrong order. I am waiting for 2 orders, which including many prints, a canvas and a 24x36. If I had paid $30.93 for them, well that would be some deal and ALMOST worth all the hassle over a simple redo that could have been avoided in the first place. And in case you didn't notice, the order he is referring to came BEFORE the other ones, so I am not sure how that one can replace them unless one of us has a time machine. *pulling out hair*

Hi Everyone.
In reference to users being able to see the full resolution versions of photos in order for Digibug to print them, I found this workaround in another thread:
----
[Digibug requires permission for Everyone to see full res images]
So... my workaround was... now pay attention...
EVERYONE -> sees original image
CUSTOMER -> sees all versions
take out the link to full size, so they don't see it, but digibug can still pull it. Later I discovered if they switched to guest view at the bottom they could see the full-size, since guests did not have permission to see resized, OOPS! so I added:
EVERYONE-> sees resized
the only thing that "Everyone" doesn't see is items... that is, assuming you are password-protecting your albums. That way guests don't see your password-protected albums, even tho they have permisison to see the resize & original which there is no link for, they will never see it. If a customer sends them a direct link to an image they will see that resize, no other ones.
If you email me I can give you a login to my site so you can see for yourself michelleATmyaphoto.com - I use PG.
----
This seems satisfactory to me and I am a professional photographer. Is this not satisfactory to other pro's? and if not, why? It seems unlikely that any of my portrait customers are going to be savvy enough to locate the full res images for which there are no links. Am I missing something?
Thanks!

Just an FYI to everyone. The new version of the digibug module will be distributed with Gallery 2.2. It addresses concerns of custmers being able to view high resolution images. While still allowing the digibug lab to grab the images for processing.

First - it's a great module! But, there are two show stoppers for me. Any chance digibug will offer panorama style prints in the future? I'd really like to be able to offer these for sale, and so I may have to stick with the checkout module. The other big problem for me is I will have an english/german site, but only english is offered from digibug, right?
How do I set up the site so that digibug can grab the full-res image? My site is set so that the visitors can only view 1024 X 1024, and this is what was uploaded to digibug.

I wanted to add that I'm running version 0.9.1 of the digibug module, which came with a G2.2 SVN version downloaded sometime around Christmas.

Ok folks, has this issue been resolved? Any other support problems??
Erhmm, the high rez images will be secure soon as I read, is this for sure and already done?
Digital downloads has been mentioned in this mod, is this already a feature, or are you including it on the G2.2 release or anytime soon thereafter? If so, what is the digibug cut?
Thanks for any insight here.

Hi Don,
The issue that Michelle had with the refund has been charged, a lot of this was the credit card company not reversing the charges fast enough.
The current Release candidate of Gallery2.2 has the digibug module included in it. This version of the module supports Gallery's protection scheme thanks to the Gallery developers working with us make this possible. You should be able to password protect galleries, and limit the resolutions of images and when the images are sent to us, we will receive the hi resolution images.

Regarding security and the high resolution images, does digibugForGallery2-1_v0-3-3.tar.gz for Gallery v2.1 have these same protections? I'm wondering if images are relatively secure for v2.1. Is it hard for customers to guess URLs (URL Rewrite module is enabled)?

2.1 does not have the same protections. If you do not allow a customer to view a hi resolution image, then you are not sending Digibug high resolution images. Basically Gallery 2.1 will send us the highest resolution image that is available for the customer to view.

Digital downloads should work with both the API and the Events section of digibug pro, so any module be it Gallery2 or other should work just fine. If you have any problems with it please let us know.

Currently there is no way to delete them, we plan to fix that but it won't until later this year when we put in a bunch of other functionality.

hi,
as said by all, great module.
I need photos shipped to Australia, and am just querying what the cost is for postage? will i need to use "global mail"? this proves useless as it costs US$12.98 just to ship an order.
what is the expected time period for international mail from the US?
Thanks,

I've been checking out Digibug for my photo sales and printing today. I like what I see. I'll have to wait for the upgrade to 2.2 though as I can't allow my hi-rez images be available to the public (my gallery is not password protected). I did find a couple of issues that I hope someone here can help me with.
1) When clicking "Print on Digibug.com" in either the cart or on the photo options list the Digibug cart opens in the same window. Not a problem normally but my gallery is integrated into my site. The frame it is displayed within is far to small for the Digibug page. Since I can't change the frame size does anyone know where in the code I'd tell these links to open in a new window instead of the parent window?
2) When clicking "Print on Digibug.com" through MS Internet Explorer I'm prompted by Digibug to log in. This is not something that happens when using Firefox. Do I have the module setup wrong?
3) There is STILL no way to remove an image from Digibug once you've added it? I find that hard to believe. Please tell me I'm just missing the little trash can icon (or whatever) somewhere on the page.
Of course, I'm doing this all with gallery 2.1 and the 2.1 version of the module. Feel free to tell me that 2.2 fixes all my problems (please) and I'll just wait for the release of 2.2 to actually use this module. It seems to be just what the doctor ordered.

Hi rbnh00d222,
1.) There'd need to be some kind of change to the module, I know it can be done, I am not 100% sure how though it's been years since I've had to break out of a frameset for anyreason. If it's an easy fix I'll try to get it into the system.
2.) That is odd, it shouldn't. What version of internet exporer are you using? Please send me a private message via the forums with what you entered as your companyId and eventId, and I'll let you know if you set that up correctly.
3.) The only way to not order an image is to 0 out the quantity in the cart, adding a remove button has not been a priority, but is on the list of features to add to the system. We are in the middle of defining a bunch of changes, and that is on the list, but is currently not available, and has no ETA on when it will be implemented.

Requested info sent a couple days ago. No response yet.
It seems as if Digibug has their hands full at the moment. If you try to order a picture you get the following message.
"Due to technical reasons we are unable to process orders at this time, we are sorry for the inconvenience."
It's been that way since last night. I really like this service, especially now with the new 2.2 security upgrades. I'm eager to get starting using it. But I have to say, my confidence is slowly eroding.

I do charity event photography. I'm starting to get feedback from
potential buyers that "print on Digibug" isn't intuitive enough.
As in, once they put photos in the cart and work the cart actions
drop down (with Update Quantities, Empty Cart & Print with Digibug)
because they do not see "purchase" they get confused and leave the page.
Where would I look on the code to change "print with Digibug" to
"purchase print"
Thanks

THis is not part of the Digibug module, this is part of Gallery2. Please post in one of the main topics about enhancing Gallery2 where one of the Gallery2 developers may be able to help. I do not know the answer and can not easily provide it in a timely manner.
Also, the Cart in Gallery doesn't update the quantities at Digibug, our API has no support for this yet, so customers will have to do the work twice, so you may want to think about not using the cart in Gallery and just using the "Print with Digibug" link on the side of the images and using Digibug's cart as the cart for your site.

[UPDATE]: see below.
We have used an early version of the digibug module for about a year (on the Rockbrook Camp site), but:
after upgrading from Gallery 2.0.2 to 2.2.1 successfully (including the digibug module), there is now a problem sending images from the Gallery Cart to the Digibug Cart. With images in the Gallery Cart, I select "Print with Digibug," click "go" and I am taken to the digibug site (www.digibug.com/event/shopcart.php) with our banner displayed at the top. So I think the company and event ID info is correct, but for some reason the image info is not being sent over. The Digibug cart says "The shopping cart is empty."
I'm guessing a permissions error, or a cache issue? I'm not sure.
James, et. al, Do you have suggestions about how to address this problem?
Thanks,
Jeff
P.S. The shutterfly plugin doesn't have this problem, so I think it is a digibug issue.
P.P.S. Here is my system info:
Gallery version = 2.2.1 core 1.2.0.1

[Update]: Couldn't figure this one out, but after a clean install, the problem was not there. My last guess was that in upgrading something was retained in the database that caused the issue.

Hello folks. Someone in the troubleshooting forum posted a problem in G2.2 where images with watermarked thumbnails wind up with broken thumbnails on the DigiBug cart page.
I dug around DigibugPrintPhotos.inc a bit, and found the cause, but not the solution:
lines 152 - 157:
if (!isset($thumbnails[$itemId]) || $thumbnails[$itemId]->getPostFilterOperations()) {
/* Use the source if the thumbnail has a postfilter (like a watermark) */
$thumbSource = $source;
} else {
$thumbSource = $thumbnails[$itemId];
}
When you use $source as $thumbSource, that's when you get broken thumbnails.
As a test, if I commented all that out and just replaced it with $thumbSource = $thumbnails[$itemId];. then it works with watermarked thumbnails, but the thumbnails in the digibug cart have the watermarks in them as well, which might make the buyer think that they will get the watermarks in the final image. Which is why the code author put that routine in there in the first place.
Gallery's cart, the Digibug API and the Digibug ordering interface have a ways to go in terms of polishing, but this is the only bug that's really holding me up from me opening up sales in my gallery. James, can this bug be escalated to top priority?
Since $source is used elsewhere in the code for full size image interpretation, I can only assume that the data is good in $source, and that DigiBug can't deal with that data for some reason (too big?) or there is a transfer issue.
Valiant: Thanks for the update. If this thread could possibly be updated once the problem is solved, that would probably be a good thing. We can all help test it. ;)

One of the two issues has been fixed today. To get the fix for the password-module/hidden-module related session permission issue, you need to svn upgrade the core and the digibug modules (or get the next (not today's) nightly snapshot of g2.
Ok folks, has this issue been resolved? Any other support problems??
I finally did get the issue resolved and got the proper credit, but it took forever and was very embarrassing since this was a customer and not a friend. Also really ticked me off because I was promised a refund the next day and it took weeks. I don't like that.
I have had some other issues since then, most recently I waited for several weeks for an order to get printed while other orders where going as usual. No explanation why and of course this was the order I promised a school would only take a week or so. It was a sample set to show them that could lead me to getting some gigs. Well, that did not happen so I finally dropped Digibug from my site after I got my order. I will probably still use them for myself sometimes or when I need mass amounts of prints for cheap but I am NOT comfortable depending on them for large orders placed by portrait clients.
I just installed the checkoutbyemail and I'm in the process up upgrading to the newest version of Gallery. Right now I am using Miller's and sending a Paypal invoice when they place an order, then placing the order with Miller's and getting it the next day. I am looking to simplify this but not sure the Paypal checkout will meet my needs.

My clients got really confused about that, so I just changed it to "Checkout" and also including ordering instructions in the gallery description. I think Digibug is a great solution for this type of work. If I could run digibug on charity events only I would do that, less work for me. But I am not up for installing a second gallery at the moment.

So is there any way to have one Gallery site and different pricing for different items yet? It seems like it should be pretty easy to assign a price sheet at the item or album level but I'm not a programmer. I read that this was smoething that was being worked on. What's the status of this feature?

Well I am going to have to hang up this module.
If Digibug site allowed user to clear the cart this would be a great setup but the lack
of this function makes this a show stopper.
I have tried many different scenarios with the cart and the only thing that fixes lingering
items from previous trips from the G@ module on the gallery site is to clear the browsers cookies for the digibug.com site.
Digibug...your losing a bunch of business - how hard could it be for you to place some code to clear cookies?

If someone developed a module for WHCC like someone mentioned earlier, this would be a pro's dream come true. What would it take to get that started? Right now I'm also using pictage, but have setup gallery2 and digibug, but it would be awesome to have a company like WHCC handle the prints, as they're recognized by pros for their prints. I really would love to see that happen. By the way, gallery2 blows Pickpic out of the water!

I am very happy to see a tool as this. It makes for a very easy transition from shutter release to photograph. I am a little disheartened to see that last year it was said there would be the ability to set different price lists per album during the summer... and it is not there. The coupon idea is something I will use for a time but this is not what I would like for my customers to have to do. Is there any update on this at all?

Since I haven't seen anyone really posting recently on many posts at all, I thought I would be nice and post a response I got from Digibug about the gallery pricelist limitation.
"You can only have one company ID per shopping cart. This translates to one price list per Gallery installation.
Our long term plans is to take this limitation away, but we do not anticipate any change in this area short term."
So, I don't know what they were planning last year when they said it would be that summer... very disappointed to hear this.

How is this printing service? Reading the thread, it seems that they were very active in trying to address problems, add features, etc for a while, but in reading the support forums on their website, it appears they have not developed or added any new features recently. It also appears customer service has taken a nose dive. Any advice / opinions?

The technology that the print service API was built on only allows one pricelist/checkout. so it causes a conflict, this is why the module currently doesn't support it. Once the holidays are over, we plan on rewriting some of our features, and adding some new features. The ability to order form multiple pricelists is high on that list.

Just in process of redeveloping my gallery look and have examined the potential of using Digibug for image printing/sales - big downside for me is that I am in the United Kingdom and would really want my buyers (likely to be UK residents) to see GBP (£) rather than USD ($)- any chance that this might be something you would consider?

Northgod,
Internationization is something we are discussing, not just from what a user sees, but also from where items are printed.

I'd think of it as the 'plain brown wrapper option'- something I'd like to be able to offer any purchasers from my albums.
thanks

Update: Still no credit.
Posts: 57
eyes_up,
I have been getting around this by using coupon codes.

EVERYONE -> sees original image
CUSTOMER -> sees all versions
take out the link to full size, so they don't see it, but digibug can still pull it. Later I discovered if they switched to guest view at the bottom they could see the full-size, since guests did not have permission to see resized, OOPS! so I added:
EVERYONE-> sees resized
the only thing that "Everyone" doesn't see is items... that is, assuming you are password-protecting your albums.
Thanks!
Rebecca

Does the latest release support paid digital downloads?

Digital downloads should work with both the API and the Events section of digibug pro, so any module be it Gallery2 or other should work just fine. If you have any problems with it please let us know.

Currently there is no way to delete them, we plan to fix that but it won't until later this year when we put in a bunch of other functionality.

hi,
as said by all, great module.
I need photos shipped to Australia, and am just querying what the cost is for postage? will i need to use "global mail"? this proves useless as it costs US$12.98 just to ship an order.
what is the expected time period for international mail from the US?
is digibug looking toward global domination?

When you use $source as $thumbSource, that's when you get broken thumbnails.
As a test, if I commented all that out and just replaced it with
$thumbSource = $thumbnails[$itemId];
. then it works with watermarked thumbnails, but the thumbnails in the digibug cart have the watermarks in them as well, which might make the buyer think that they will get the watermarks in the final image. Which is why the code author put that routine in there in the first place.Gallery's cart, the Digibug API and the Digibug ordering interface have a ways to go in terms of polishing, but this is the only bug that's really holding me up from me opening up sales in my gallery. James, can this bug be escalated to top priority?
Since $source is used elsewhere in the code for full size image interpretation, I can only assume that the data is good in $source, and that DigiBug can't deal with that data for some reason (too big?) or there is a transfer issue.

we discovered 2 bugs this week, both G2's fault and not digibug's fault:
see:
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Modules:digibug#Known_Issues (known issues). G2's shutterfly module is also affected.
we'll look into it ASAP.

One of the two issues has been fixed today. To get the fix for the password-module/hidden-module related session permission issue, you need to svn upgrade the core and the digibug modules (or get the next (not today's) nightly snapshot of g2.

Posts: 6
