suggestion: publishXP - usefullscreen?

I suggest making PublishXP request the full-screen. I made the change by adding the following code to the loadTemplate function in Login.inc, NewAlbum.inc, Options.inc, and SelectAlbum.inc:

$theme =& $template->getVariableByReference('theme');
$theme['useFullScreen'] = true;

Why? I have a theme that wraps a header, a menu, a footer, etc. around the Gallery album. When I use publishXP to upload photos, WinXP shows a small, unmaximizable window view of the webpage, which means that the user has to scroll the dialog box to see the important parts of the page. But if publishXP is changed to request full-screen, then the theme won't display the header, menu, footer, etc. This makes a nice compact view for publishXP which doesn't require any scrolling.

Another alternative is to make "useFullScreen" an option for this module.

I see that there is a CLOSED feature request for this functionality, but it doesn't work this way in my system. Anyone know how to turn it on? Or does it not actually work this way?

I would also like to be able to change the default settings in PublishXP, but can't find anywhere to do that either.

I tried using the code in the first post in this thread to modify PublishXP to go full screen, but it doesn't seem to work with the current version of the plugin. Can anyone tell me how to modify the code as per the suggestion?

Just found the files, they are in Modules/PublishXP.

If anyone can put the changes to the code here would be great, tried adding the line in and it just breaks everything.

I don't understand what the problem is.
In G2.2, there's no need to make publishxp login fullscreen....because it already is.

see the attached screenshots:

That's not what I would call fullscreen. I call that a small window that is not resizeable. When you have many galleries you can't see very many of them at one time on the Select Album screen, and you have to scroll to see all of the available options on the Options window.

ssphillips

you don't understand this topic correctly.
the windows web publishing wizard is just a smallish window.
the gallery full-screen setting is just to not occupy any of the available space with gallery's sidebar or things like that.

You've got that right! And many other topics too. And I'm getting more frustrated with this whole system daily as I begin to understand the scope of it. It's out of control and the people programming it don't have time to fix the small things before being called on by all of us whiny beginners to create more new and wonderful code!

I do realize that, but that doesn't make me any less bothered by it! Is there no way to resize the WPW window??

As always, thanks for your help!

sarcasm apart, i'm answering your questions, right?
and what's there to fix?

the windows publishing wizard works great for me and i don't think there's a dare need to have a larger wizard window. besides, i don't think that's possible.

The issue for me is that every time I use the WPW I have to scroll in every window. Whether it is to scroll down to choose the album ro to scroll down to ensure that my options are correctly selected, it's frustrating to know that the only reason is because the window is so small.

My problem is further exacerbated because I have had to set my fonts larger in order to make my embedded gallery look normal. That's a separate issue that I'm trying to fix in the WPG2 forums, but it adds to the frustration.

One big improvement to the WPW window would be to have the Album Select as a dropdown menu instead of as a fully expanded list. Any idea how to do that? I was going to look at the code for the sidebar dropdown menu to see if I could modify SelectAlbum.tpl, but I just haven't gotten there yet.

And as an aside, I have now tried all of the upload methods that are obvious, and PublishXP is the only one that works consistently well, but I still don't consider it to be that good. An FTP method into folders that are automatically picked up and recognized as belonging to a particular album would be the ideal method (IMHO). I don't know if that is even possible, but I would sure like to see it...

Anyway, I've rambled enough. I have already said it several times that I appreciate your help, and there is no sarcasm there!

@album list:
modules/albumselect is probably not the best to learn from since it's a little more convoluted since it has to deal with caching / performance.

the item move dialogue has an album picker as well.

Alright, so in a short and simple way... is there a way to make the WPW in windows bigger ?
