[SOLUTION] I found by enabling Themes, and clicking the little "zoom" option the saved center/zoom positions appear when the the "zoom in" line is clicked.

It works beautifully!

[/SOLUTON]

Having fun with this module - thank you for the great work.

I cannot get the ZOOM level to persist. It always defaults to the outer space view.

Known bug?

thank you.

regards,

patrick

I'm not sure I understand the problem :-)

Can you maybe explain what you're trying to accomplish ? I'll let you know if it's a bug and if I can fix it or not :)

Hello.

I added photo locations to the map, and used zoom level 9 on each. I saved the photo and location.

When I return to the photo and "see album on map" the map is at the normal 15 zoom level. The saved zoom level is not being saved.

Go to this photo...

http://www.idyll.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=12430&

Click upon "View Album on a Map" and it is the entire globe. I saved this (and other) photos at zoom level 9, not 15.

Does this make sese?

thanks

patrick

O I see.

The "ZoomLevel" that can chosen in each item basically only applies to the "zoom-in" links (assumming they are enabled) that show in the Infowindow.

The zoomlevel for the map is changed by 2 things mutually exclusive:
- In the Admin Panel it can be chosen manually to a set value (Center & zoom)
- Inthe Admin Panel. AutoCenter & zoom select the "best" center and zoomlevel for the markers to display correctly on the map depending on the size of the map itself.

Let me know if that's clear or not :)

OK, thanks for the clarification.

When I Edit a photo, and go to the Google Map tab, and locate the place on the map, etc. the dialog says
--------- snip ------------
Reminders

* Each click will create a marker to ease aiming.

* A Click on the map, center the map.

* When you are satisfied with the coordinates, click Save above and the center of the map and the zoom level will be copied in the GPS and ZoomLevel fields of the item.

-------- snip -------------

I assumed this means the zoom level is saved, per photo. This is why I posted the question, because it looked, to my tired old eyes, like I could do save zoom level PER photo. I was obviously wrong! ;-)

Thanks again.

patrick

Sorry about that, the documentation piece is something that I have not worked on very much. Dotnature is picking up the slack there and we should have something cleaned up :)

Enjoy !

patrickthickey,
Can you suggest better wording? This is how we make a better module. We can change the text so that there is less confusion.

The module is really very cool, and fun, and useful. The documentation needs work as you have stated.

On this specific issue, that of the (in)ability to save the zoom level and center position for individual albums or photos, some thought needs to be given to either..

* make this possible and thus, the existing documentation is perfect

or

* remove one of the options to center/zoom on the Admin screen since they apply universally and that assumes the location of a given set of markers is in one specific geopgraphic area. If a person has albums or photos scattered all over the place, like I do, the dual ability to save center/zoom, which applies to ALL photos and albums, is not very useful. < This is not a harsh criticism, just a comment from a lame end user ;-) >

If the feature is not going to be enabled or created, then perhaps the words I quoted should simply be removed, as what they state simply is not true? I honestly see no reason to "save" that particular screen since neither the center point OR the zoom level is actually saved?

Here's a point which I would like to raise....

logged in as Admin, and going to this location (album)

http://www.idyll.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=5533&

I Do get the saved center and zoom positions I used to create the album map point.

However, if I go to that point as a normal visitor, I get the generic map.

I have not seen the "map" items in the Preferences options so I cannot seem to enable the saved zoom and center to appear for anyone but Admin. This makes me think it is a Permissions issue, and it is "possible" to have the saved zoom and center, per album or photo....potentially for all visitors or at least by Permission.

Your thoughts?

regards,

patrick

Am I missing a feature or issue?
