slow loading gallery and timing out

I just got my gallery up and running to the point that images will upload and display... to a point.

It seems the pictures will show up in Firefox, but not in MS IE.

Also, when I attempt to perform an admin task like deleting a photo, etc., the server times out. Does this result from a PHP setting, or a server issue? Anything I can do?
