[Resolved] Link Items Module thumbnail broken for external URL

Using the Link Item Module 1.0.3 for gallery 2.1rc2a and the thumbnail manager 1.0.5

Trying to link to google map using this instead of htaccess, I "Add Item", then Link to external URL,

The link works but shows up with the default gallery broken image thumbnail, click "Edit Link" , general, custom thumbnail and I upload a custom JPEG, but the link remains broken ( http://gallery.dotnature.com/main.php )

I ran system maintenence though it did have some errors with build thumbnails/resizes (maybe thumbnial manager isnt 2.1?) I dont think it effected it.

Can someone with 2.1rc2 test this out

NetPBM causes it to not work using gd it works fine
