Im new to all this so not sure what any of the above means really....im getting this error while doing the config wizzard
Error: File .htaccess is not writable by the webserver - chmod it 777 before proceeding.
not sure what the .htaccess is(as in is it a file somewhere) i cant seem to find it to chmod it any useful information would be welcomed

Yes it's a file, and perhaps FAQ: Why, when I try to upload a .htaccess and chmod it with my FTP client, it "disappears"? will help?

i saw this link before and it didnt help me out..is .htaceess something i make on my computer and then upload to the gallery? im really clueless and not sure what to do

hi,, regarding htaccess i'm a dumby for deleting it.. now i seem not to get into my site admin mode.. how do i retrieve this?

what happened was, i deleted my .htaccess. I can view the images/videos/etc.. i can even login. but here's the problem. i can just log in that's it. when i click on the site admin i get a 404 error. anyway.. out of frustration... (since the gallery ins't that big) uninstall then re-install.... question now though.. backing this thing up. it takes forever via downloading ftp etc. plus errors. so can one zip files on the server?

finally got the htaccess taken care of but now im getting , (Error: Your Userfile is not writeable)
i got this after a week of the site being just fine
can it be a problem im having since i have pictures posted on a site that are linked to the gallery of the person the pics are of?

No, that problem ( FAQ: Why do I get this error: Warning: fopen(".../albums/team/album.dat.lock","a+")? ) is due to file system permission changes on your server.
