2.0 2.1 upgrade

I'm setting up a new machine, so I took the opportunity to install 2.1. I backed up all the 2.0 databases and have restored them on the new machine.
I setup a newuser and swapped database from (newly configured) gallery2 to the old vtigger in config.php
Gallery objects to the old db format.
Oooops.
I've moved Gal2.0 to a new machine using this technique.
My 1 second glance shows both dbs to be similar.
How do I get 2.1 to use 2.0 data? I have 6 or so 2.0 databases to migrate.
I'm confidant of being able to hack a solution, just long and painfull. What's the easy/proper way
