Is there anything like "user albums" module available for G1? Help would be greatly appreciated

Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).

Gallery version:1 not sure I am at work

PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please):newest

This is my question:
On the gallery now I have it set up so people can register by themselves and create albums on there own. The only problem with this is if someone tries to creat an album that already exists.

WHAT I WANT IS:
For users not to be able to create completely new albums. I need all the albums to be created under there user name!! Is this possible? I noticed there is a module in G2 that seems to do this but I cant use that module or hack it to work in G1 can I?
I would appreciate any help I could get
