I am using the "preinstall" option (because I have dialup) to install Gallery onto my club's website, I downloaded it, supplied a password, uploaded it. I went to the site, logged in. For the download/transfer method I selected "latest stable version" from the drop down - PHP curl - and Gallery2.zip - and clicked "download". But an error page came up saying: "Filetype for download not defined, please retry" so I did it again. Same thing. So I tried a few other variation, but I always got the same thing.
How do you even define the filetype?
How can I get it to work?
thanks.

I'm not upgrading, this is my first time to install/ever to use Gallery.
And I don't understand what he means.
Is it really that hard for somebody to give a simple "this this" answer? I'm trying to get it installed as soon as possible...

Sounds like your browser doesn't send data regarding which choices you've made? Tried another browser instead?

I've been using Mozilla Firefox, and now I just attempted it with I.E. 6, and had the same problem. :-/

Hi, I get exactly the same error when I try and install through the preinstall tool "Filetype for download not defined, please retry".
I have tried all the download options, but with same effect.

since i cannot reproduce your issue on my local machine, i suggest you use another g2 installation method. like uploading the files via FTP which was the standard way of doing it until 2.1.1 anyway.

Aquiva,
I got exactly the same error message. Have you found a solution since then?
