Adding fields

I want to display some cars in my gallery. Is there any way I can include certain fields when posting them such as year, make, etc. and then have these fields display on the photo page?
Also, is there any way to have these fields searchable using dropdown lists?

I need this too for paintings in a museum : artist's name, title, dates, ...
I could be very useful and to bulk fill them too.

I uploaded and activated the Custom Fields module, then logged in and configured it with the fields I wanted to use.
However I have run into a small problem now. It doesn't show up anywhere for me to use it.
I assume it is supposed to show up when you go to Upload a Photo. However, only the default screen shows up there (just a spot to choose the photo to upload and one space underneath to add a comment - none of the extra fields show.)
Any idea what I need to do to get the Custom Fields module to work?

You will need to edit your theme. Go to site admin, then click on theme, then click on the theme you are using. And depends on theme, you should be able to add the block that are available by picking custom field in "Choose a block" and click "Add" in either sidebar, album page, or photo page. I'm talking about the matrix theme, so yours might be different
