I recently installed G2 2.1.1

(ouch!) Where is the util.php file ?

I've searched around quite a bit in the forums, browsed every folder in gallery, scanned my hard drive's copy of G2...

It would appear that it is supposed to be right under the gallery folder - what am I missing please?

I'm trying to apply these mods to the DHTMLtree on my site since it has too many sub-directories.

Also the tree basically is getting pushed over into a second column...

My guess was that G2 had done away with this file but there seemed no documentation about it in the area on changes.

Guess I'll target my searches more carefully on edits to the DHTML tree...Do you have any thoughts on the tree dilemma?

g2 has pretty much nothing in common with g1 when it comes to its code / files. it's an application that has been programmed from scratch, codewise it's not an evolution of g1.

that means that you cannot apply any g1 mods / hacks to g2 1:1. you need to find out how the same things are done in g2 and then think about how the same hack / mod could be done in g2. it's not easy.
also, in g2 you usually don't do hacks. you program a new module and install it. that way others that want the same change in functionality don't have to open any files for edit. they just copy the module onto their server and install it. and when g2.2 comes out, they don't have to reapply the hack to their files. they just upgrade the module with one click.

I still have lots of reading to do on this great piece of craft/G2 that this community has developed.

I was getting in a rush (it's fun!) but need to take it all in step by step. I've gotten the tree mostly under my control now w/out real hacks just as you said. (good thing too since my coding skills are modest...)

Thank you G2team! Plan to put it good use and compensate/contribute accordingly. cheers -

Well finally got this tree planted properly and it is growing just like I wanted - a bit of this and that did the trick.
