I started playing around with G2 and really missed the layout of G1. Unfortunately none of the themes provided or the user contributed themes were that close to what the stock G1 looked like. I was looking for something that would mimic the look and feel of G1's interface but you are just running G2 underneath. So I started hacking at the classic theme (which my hacking isn't too pretty...) and have gotten something close to looking like G1. If you want to test it out just unzip it in your gallery2 directory. Please note, this will add a local directory to the gallery2/modules/core/templates/blocks directory. This is because I needed to modify those template files to get it looking like G1. If you want to go back and use some other theme, just rename the local directory to something else (e.g. local_clone). Once you select the theme go to the gallery main page and edit the page. There go into the theme tab and change the columns to 1 (which is what G1 has for the main gallery page). There's still some more to be done, if anyone likes what it looks like and can offer assistance here's some of the things it needs: 1. On the gallery main page, everything is centered. Somehow just that page needs to be aligned to the left and the text for the highlight needs to be to the right. 2. All the albums pages though need to maintain the matrix look. This is quite like G1's look though. In G1 the images are center horizontally and then the text underneath is aligned horizontally to the top. Right now both the image and text are "grouped" together and just centered. Not as clean looking. 3. I need to figure out how to get the Navigator and Page tpl files to work together. Right now I have a NavBar.tpl file in the core local directory but it's not working correctly. This is to add the third line at the top like G1 has. There are other little odds and ends that need to be taken care of. Hope someone else find this useful!
