Import fails after 1st item with browser error "The connection was reset"

When attempting to import my albums from version 1.5.3 the import fails after the 1st file is imported. The memory counter stays at 0 / 0 and the browser switches to an error screen stating "the connection was reset", "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."
I have attempted this in IE as well as firefox, the IE error message was less useful and merely stated "There was a problem loading your page"

I am able to add multiple items normally to both the G2 and G1 versions of gallery.

I am also able to run the rebuild thumbnails report for over 80 images and the status bar page works correctly there.

I managed to work around this problem.

I created a linux box, and setup apache, & php on it. I then copied my existing gallery1 albums and my full gallery 2 setup to this new box and pointed MySQL to my main MySQL database. Once I adjusted the paths in G2 i was able to run the import successfully. After the import finished I copied the g2data folder back to the NT server and ran the rebuild images tools and cleared the caches. Everything seems to have migrated fine now.

wanted to know whats causing hiccups on win platforms.

im having the same prob.
