language bug?

Hi,
i am new in forum and have limited knowledge.

upgraded to v1.5.3 by over old one. also properly put language pack into locale. There are 2 languages(one is Japanese and english) i can choose in the config wizard that has been done.

as i go my gallery site after that, there are character bugs in both language. does anyone know how do i fix this please?

Hello,

This is no bug. At this Gallery translation report you can see that japanese language Pack is not completely translated.

Just update the translation. Use this G1 translation howto as help.

thanks for reply. understood this is no bug and not 100% translation into Japanese as i see report.

as i looked g1 translation howto help, but i cannot understand howto except downloadig 3 of .po file since i have poor knowledge. is there any more easy and understandable howto? or if not, do i fix those manually?

You downloaded the ja_JP languague pack, right ? There are the 3 .po files

yes i did downloaded ja_JP language pack. download 3 .po files in here and upload and overwrite to current .po files in mine, it this a way?

in the G1 translation howto, i have done tranlation and fuzzy parts and create 3 of .po files begining with ja_JP-gallery_<componet>.po, then copy into locale/ja_JP. i think it was all right.

i have stopped at next things that copy .mo file into locale/ja_JP/LC_MESSAGES/. need to download 3 of .mo file via ViewVC?

I assume you are using poEdit to correct the translations.

When you save the .po files the .mo files are generated. You just need to rename them. Then you can upload them at the right place in your Gallery.

i have corrected JP translation and saved .po files by poedit. at the same time .mo files are generated.

then uploaded all .po files and generated .mo files into same location as they were(overwrote). but there are still something strange in characters.

Such as;
as i see my gallery under Japanese, some title of pictures have language bug.

do i done something wrong?

Hi,

i am not able to see your Gallery in japanese.

The titles are wrong ?!?! YOU enter the titles. They are not translated by Gallery.
Can you make a screenshot and mark what is wrong ?

How could Gallery translate your own titles ?
This is also no bug.

The reason is, that Gallery uses not a universal charset like UTF-8 for every language Pack.
So the original english is displayed in ISO-8859-1.

If you modified the ja_JP.utf8 langpack, then you can just easily do this change:
open nls.php in the main folder. Modify this line:

$nls['default']['charset'] = 'ISO-8859-1';

to

$nls['default']['charset'] = 'UTF-8';

If you modified the normal ja_JP langpack, then its more complicate ...
