"Publish" Function?

So I love the way it looks, but Gallery2 runs INCREDIBLY slow on my server host. I think this is mainly due to the high MySQL database dependency of G2.

Would it be possible to add a 'Publish' feature? Add an album, update a description etc, and a red flag is raised that things have changed since the last publish. Then when you Publish, it generates mostly flat html for image locations, urls etc. Leaving only a few minor things (random image, etc?) dynamic.
