I was having a conversation with someone the other day about getting a degree.
What I'm curious to know is how many people here who work in the computer industry, specifically programming, have a degree in a related field, and how many don't. In other words, programming with a degree in fashion design wouldn't cut it.
Relatedly, how many people, if you were in the hiring position, would hire someone who had a degree vs someone that didn't. In one case assume that the person with a degree had little to no experience while the person who didn't have a degree had several years of experience. In another case, assume that both had several years of experience. By "years of experience" I mean at least 2-5 years.
If you would never hire someone without a degree, why?
