Is anyone out there using Digibug Pro with their G2 site? I read through the thread regarding the module but there wasn't much in the line of people who have actually used it for a while.

1. Anyone using it to make sales?
2. If yes, does it work well and smoothly?
3. How do your customers like it?
4. What size images are you uploading?

If you don't mind, please let me know. I am very interested in trying this out.

Thanks!

I'm using it. It does work very smoothly in terms of integration which is one of the reasons I decided to try it. Also it's free so I figured why not. There are a lot of product options which is a plus. I like the fact that I can configure coupons to go with my custom price list. As for print quality, I can't comment yet. I tried to order some of my own work just to verify the quality was up to par, but ended up having my order canceled because my watermarks were appearing on my full size images.

I've gone back and removed my watermarks so I need to resubmit my order. One of the negative things about digibug right now is that they don't offer panorma prints. I will crop my photos occasionally to better bring out the view I was looking for when I took the picture and some times that means going short and wide in format. What they'll do is simply just put the picture on the specificed size paper with black bars on the top and bottom.

I am using it, it is super-easy and the prints are real nice. I like the coupons option, I like that you can have BACK TEXT on your prints so customers can't take them to walmart for copies :) I like that they drop-ship with your name. I ordered some for some friends and made myself a wholesale coupon, it was very easy, I shipped directly to them and they did not see the prices (the price receipt goes to the email you order with, the receipt they ship does not have prices). You get to monitor the progress or your orders and also see WHAT they ordered, which can really help you out to see what people want. The only ordering problem I ever had was when I ordered myself a test print and the order was cancelled because I did not set permissions for "Everyone" to see the original image. They need that. So... my workaround was... now pay attention...

EVERYONE -> sees original image
CUSTOMER -> sees all versions

take out the link to full size, so they don't see it, but digibug can still pull it. Later I discovered if they switched to guest view at the bottom they could see the full-size, since guests did not have permission to see resized, OOPS! so I added:

EVERYONE-> sees resized

the only thing that "Everyone" doesn't see is items... that is, assuming you are password-protecting your albums. That way guests don't see your password-protected albums, even tho they have permisison to see the resize & original which there is no link for, they will never see it. If a customer sends them a direct link to an image they will see that resize, no other ones.

If you email me I can give you a login to my site so you can see for yourself michelleATmyaphoto.com - I use PG.

Digibug is really great.

I assume my customers like it, the orders ship with 1-2 business days usually and one customer made 3 reorders after she got her first order.

PS - If you are not password-protecting albums, all you need to do is take out the link to full size on your page and give all permissions. I just wanted to post all that info hoping it will help someone, it took me forever to figure out.

i forgot to answer your question, i upload 3072x2048. i use the FTP option.

no need to give the "everybody" group the "view original" permission. maybe that's something we fixed after g2.1, don't remember. at least it's like that in g2.2 / nightly snapshots.

Hello

What version are you using for Gallery at this time? I am using Gallery 2.04 right now because I am using the Zencart module, but I would like to use Digibug's service for shipping, so may have to upgrade. I like all the features of Zencart, but it can't send orders directly to Digibug. What does Digibug charge for shipping? What is the process if the customer is unhappy with prints? Can you track the orders for your records?
. What is the best way to setup the image sizes? What sizes do you use for screenviews? Do you use Gallery's watermarking, or another program?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can give!!

Hi,
I am using 2.2. For shipping, well, it depends on the order. Not very much. Definately not more than they should. Shipping is charged to the customer, anyway. They will accept returns on prints, but it has not happened to me. Their prints are just as good as you would get at one of the new Wolf Cameras. Crystal Archive paper & printed on a Fuji Frontier. I believe that is exactly the same setup as the new Wolf Cameras. You can choose to have the pictures printed exactly as you have them, instead of making adjustments. Everything is completely trackable, right down to what pictures the customer chose. I upload the full-sized pictures using the ftp option. I have gallery resize to 640, so they can see the details. I don't watermark them. I think it's ugly. I may someday, who knows? They don't see the full-sized ones anyway and if they pay me to take their pictures just to print off ugly copies they are stupid. I'm not afraid. :) BTW, Digibug will also back-text anything you want, like your name or web address. So if they buy a print from you and then try to make copies somewhere, your info is right there. It's been flawless for me, so far. I ftp them overnite to an upload folder, get up in the morning, add them to the album and send them an ecard anouncing that their pictures are up. I also use sitemeter, which is free, and watch what they do. You can tell what page(s) people are browsing at any time and also where they are from. I highly recommend you get it. between that and the digibug reports, you learn more about your customers than you will probably ever need.

Michelle

Thanks for the comments! John Treadway, Digibug's President, told me an upgrade is coming for Digibug very soom, so check their site in the future.

What is the URL to your Web? I tried the website link in an earlier post and it could not find the site. I would like to see some of your work.

I appreciate you taking the time to give me some insight!

Have a great weekend,

Tim

I'm not using Digibug anymore, I switched to a more professional solution. I just installed the checkoutbyemail and I'm in the process of upgrading my gallery version. But feel free to check out my site anyway!

Hi! In answer to your questions:
1. I have been using Digibug for sales. It's so great! So glad I found it!
2. It's been working perfectly so far. Even when I have questions their customer service has been so helpful.
3. My customers have only said good things. They get everything they've ordered on time and they seem to like the quality of their items.
4. We've uploaded a few different sizes so far. Obviously the bigger/higher the res. the better. We purchased a few canvases and mugs from the site that came out very clear and had excellent color quality. And they come in nice packaging.

Overall a good experience with them. Glad to pass the good word along! :)
