Creating stand-alone CD-ROM Gallery archive

I have more than 2,000 photos in a Gallery installation and I need to make room for new photos. I would like to create a CD-ROM version of the installation that I could distribute to those who want the "old" photos.

Ideally I would like a solution that simply transformed the existing file structure to work from a CD-ROM.

Is this possible? And, if not, what other options are available?

This solution works, but gives a rather bare bones version of the files. Can I suggestion getting the latest cut of 1.3.4 and using wget to create an offline version?

You could also patch it with http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=704888&group_id=7130&atid=307130 which adds some refinements to it.

I went wandering thru your Gallery to see what the heck you'd been doing lately and noticed you'd made a big move. :smile:

You have some great photos in your Gallery. (makes me think I need to get out more...)

OK. I've reviewed Gallery2XML

I'm pretty good with PHP, but I suck with Perl. I DO NOT have shell access to the server where I have the albums I want to archive.

Can someone offer a howto for using the Gallery2XML idea when you don't have shell access to the files?

I don't see how you can: and don't forget you you need to install saxon as well.

I suggest you try the wget approach first. Simple, and you get all your galleery look&feel as well.
