Hi all,

I'm new to Gallery 2 and I already read all faq and paypal module info.

But I can't understand how to setup gallery 2 to suite these needs:

1- a user can view and browse all the residez images (low res);
2- he adds the images he likes to the shopping cart;
3- he pays using paypal;
4- he downloads high res images;

Can this be done with Gallery 2?

Thanks in advance

i don't know the details of the 3rd party "checkout" and paypal modules, but in theory, this could easily done in modules.

what we already do:
when a user or guest orders prints from shutterfly or other photo services, we automatically grant the print service to print the photo in the highest resolution although the user might not have this permission.
the same can be done for ecommerce. once the user pays for the order, the user can be given new permissions, temporarily or not.

Hi valiant, thanks for your reply.
Can I ask you more details on this?
I can't fully understand the permission page in gallery 2. How does it work? All I would like to do is to allow everybody to see low res images (resized images?) and allow to download full resolution images after paying paypal (or other service).
Have I to create a new group permission (example: checkout)? ehmmmm... but then...?

Thanks again for your patience.

please read documentation -> quick start guide. the section on the root album and on permissions should explain these things.

I read it but I'm stuck with checkout.
I can make a registered user to view images (excluding the full resolution images).
But I don't understand how to set up permissions to allow users that paid using paypal to download full resolution images.
I see the "[checkout]Purchase item" in the permission page but I don't know how to change user permission after ckecking out (paying) the cart.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeelp!

i'm pretty sure you can't configure it that way yet.
i'll move this topic to the 3rd party module forum for further feedback.

That's pretty much the conclusion I've come to as well... the cart+download functionality is close but not there yet...

does anyone know if you can get around this problem by using gallery embedded in Drupal and then use Drupal's eCommerce module for gallery items? Has anyone tried that?

Thanks!
