Viewing Gallery in IE

I looked around and perhaps I missed this if anyone posted. I implemented Gallery 1.5.5-pl1 into Joomla 1.0.12 without a problem. Since I use Firefox I didn't catch this until one of my users e-mailed me to complain. When the gallery is viewed using IE the albums and thumbnails pages appear normally. But when the image is chosen to view enlarged, the picute itself appears at the center of a huge black background. To actually see the picture you have to scroll around to find it. Has anyone else encountered this? If so, what can I do to correct this?
