Hello everybody,

I'm trying to expand the Gallery's functionality on my site but the features I need seem to be very specific. I'm running a bilingual architectural image stock so my wishlist of functions is more taxonomy- then album-oriented.
The question is: is there anything wrong with developing simple PHP scripts using direct database connection instead of tailoring existing modules to custom needs?
For instance I need to mass edit the keywords sitewide according to the data already stored in items' titles or descriptions. I can't think of a better way to do it then running a short script through the whole base. Or am I wrong?

Best regards and thanks for the great software!

You are right imo.
For a very specific, designed to be runned only 1, 'mass filling' stuff, a simple script approach should be okay.
If you would like to use it constantly, than I'd suggest a module, as communicating over g2's built in functions might be better in the long run..
Just make sure to create a backup.. ;)
