Hi,

I want to install gallery on my website but I ran into a few problems to wich i cannot find a solution on my own.
I have searched the forum and checked any readme`s I could find.. no succes
so i hope someone can help me out.. i am breaking my head trying to figure this out...

here is the info from the setup file:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Success
PHP v4.2.2 is OK

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Serious Warning!
Safe Mode is enabled on this server. You must disable it before you can use Gallery. Refer to the FAQ, the forums, and the help page on the Gallery website, and the PHP website for assistance.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Success
I can read your .htaccess file

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Success
magic quotes are off

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Success
mod_rewrite is enabled

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warning!
I can't find NetPBM. If it's installed and not in the path of the webserver user that's OK -- you can specify the path to NetPBM by hand on the following page. If it's not installed, you have two choices: Gallery prefers NetPBM version 9.9 and up. You can install just the binaries Gallery needs from Gallery on SourceForge or, you can compile and install the entire NetPBM package from NetPBM on SourceForge. Note: You can install the binaries from the Gallery site even if you don't have root access on your box! If you can't get it working, try leaving the NetPBM path blank and using ImageMagick intead.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warning!
I can't find ImageMagick. If it's installed and not in the path of the webserver user that's OK -- you can specify the path to ImageMagick by hand on the following page. If it's not installed, you must install it. Gallery prefers ImageMagick version 5.4.8 and up. You can compile and install the entire ImageMagick package from http://www.ImageMagick.org. Note: They also have binaries available for assorted operating systems. If you can't get it working, try leaving the ImageMagick path blank and using NetPBM instead.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warning!
I can't find jhead. If it's installed and not in the path of the webserver user that's OK -- you can specify the path to jhead by hand on the following page. If it's not installed, you can install it yourself. jhead is a public domain EXIF parser. Source, linux binaries, and windows binaries can be found at the jhead homepage.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your installation has serious warnings! Continue at your own risk...

[EOF]

so basicly the problems are:
Safe mode is enabled and must be disabled
netpbm is not installed (i checked... it`s not there)

something you might need to know:
I do not have root, just a simple ftp access from wich i cannot upload anything in the usr/bin ... usr/local/bin directory`s.
I just get 'permission denied' so i can`t upload netpbm..

anybody know how I can fix these 'serious warnings' without knowing how to code my own gallery?

thx in advance

Unfortunately, safe mode is enabled on this server. You will not get Gallery to run  If you still want to use Gallery, you'll have to find another host.

Never hurts to send the server host a message telling them you need safe mode off. It worked for me
