Hi, all! Wonderful job on the new site, Bharat! It looks great! I have one small request though, please cleanup the avatar gallery. Some of the avatars are WAY to big, and hopefully we can get rid of them before someone starts using them. http://gallery.menalto.com/images/avatar/boo5[1].jpg is by far the worst one. |

:lol: - some of those avatars are pretty bad, aren't they? I had a look thru them the other day.
I was going to ask Bharat if we'd have the option at some point of using our own, linked from our own webspace (obviously with size limitations, etc). Most bb's allow for this option and it's turned off or on at the discretion of the admin.

I was actually looking for a place where I could specify my own, so I would be very pleased with beeing able to do so!

As an alternative to being able to link to an avatar image on the web,
could I submit my standard avatar? You can resize it to match the
site's design...

Yes, this is a configuration option. I've left it off because I fear that people will use offensive avatars then I'll have to go and ride herd on them and fix it. If I enable this feature, will you guys keep an eye out for offensive avatars and help me to make sure that they're not getting out of hand?

I've been checking my account settings page daily to see if this has gotten turned on yet... am I missing something, or is there more work involved in enabling this option than it seems at first glance?

You're absolutely right, and I've been plagued with guilt about it.
Was able to drink myself to sleep, but woke up at 2am and could not
get back into dreamland.

You are a bad BeanyBoy and should be punished. You must get an avatar that reflects this.
Unfortunately, I think that is just the sort of avatar bharat wants to avoid.

Ok, I've enabled this feature. I will wait for BeanyBoy to upload an avatar, then I'll print out a copy of it and show it to a random person on the street. If he or she likes it, then we'll keep the feature. Otherwise, it's back to your choice of 5 different smiley faces!

I was joking! I've enabled the custom avatar feature -- you can upload your own avatar by clicking the "profile" button at the top of this page. No, I'm not going to print it out, etc

Hah, I am an idiot! I kept going to the "My Account" page and changing
my info there... never had even clicked the Profile button.
Well, we'll see how this looks...

Google for "free avatars" (without the quotes) and you'll come up with some good links and a lot of variety.
