Gallery 2 album "Hiding" does not seem to work. Album edit screen says:

"Hidden items are not visible to guest users until the page for the item is accessed directly. Contents of hidden albums are restricted until the URL for the album is visited. Note that guests need permission to view resizes and/or original items, as visiting the direct URL grants only simple view permission; access to resizes/originals is still controlled by item permissions."

Yet... Look at:

[ removed, problem solved ]

The first album in there is "Hidden", so it should not appear unless someone hit its URL directly. Is this a bug?

Gallery version: 2.1.2
PHP version: 4.4.2
Database: MySQL 4.0.27
Operating system: RHL

obviously it's not hidden. or you changed the permissions after you marked it hidden.

...that's why I started this thread. It's not hidden.

I did not change permissions on the gallery that should be hidden. Here they are:

Thoughts? Thanks.

the everybody group has the "view item" permission. thus they can see it.
unhide the album and hide it again. the view permission for the everybody group should go away.

That did it. Thanks much. Guess it didn't "take" the first time around?

It's working now, so guest users can hit the URL directory for this one sub-gallery, but can't see it linked from its parent gallery. BUT, guest users DO get previews in the random pic block of pics in that gallery. Yes, they've got View Item rights on the internal galleries of the hidden one - but is there a way to keep that one gallery and its children out of the random display block?

Thanks.

not until they have visited the hidden album.
once they have visited the album, they receive full permissions to see the album / its images for the rest of their session.

To test, I installed OmniWeb for the first time on my MacBook Pro. I started refreshing the main gallery over and over and I started seeing pics from subgalleries within the hidden gallery. I had definitely not visited the hidden gallery before this. Is this a bug in Gallery 2? Tnx.
