Not only just Carbon but every theme available in G2...in other words, it is not a theme issue but a G2 issue that was not resolved in G2.2. I looked into this a while back and found it was due to the fundermental structural framework of G2 and realised a resolution of this issue is not likely to come until G3 perhaps as it seems to require some major rewrites of the core.

This issue is fixed in G2.3. Mindless did some AJAX magick:
http://gallery.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/gallery?view=rev&revision=16057
If you would like the revision will work with G2.2 as well.

Great stuff by Mindless. So if the files are replaced by those ones, it will work in 2.2?

I wonder if someone could weave similar magic on the current weakness that means that if one allows people to choose different sizes, they have to reselect it on every page.

Anyway this is not related to this theme but next time you guys get together Dave, maybe you can suggest it :wink: :hint:

not tracking this thread, but see some mention of exif changes and G2.2.
FYI, the ajax version of exif is available directly in G2.2 using Downloadable Plugins, from the Experimental repository.

Hi,

I doesn't think that the problem is this module.
If I switch to the matrix theme for example, i can see the video.

Gallery version = 2.2.1 noyau 1.2.0.1
PHP version = 4.4.2 cgi-fcgi
Serveur Web = Microsoft-IIS/6.0
Base de données = mysqlt 4.1.18-nt, lock.system=database

I love the theme and have always been a huge fan of Pedro's work. I really need two things though before I could use it.

First, the theme fails to validate as proper Xhtml. There are validation errors everywhere, especially the individual photo pages... A lot of it results from using the same css IDs repeatedly on different elements within a page. You're only allowed to use IDs once per page. Otherwise, you can use classes as often as you'd like.

The second thing I'd really appreciate is the option to turn off the next / previous thumbnail previews. The "wow factor" on this feature is very high, but I quickly found it to be more distracting than beneficial to the user. I just want the option to use the small and inconspicuous arrows for next / previous like the old PGTheme. Pedro, you seemed to long ago have given up the thought of keeping the options brief and concise, so why not one more option.

And while I'm asking for things, it would be really cool if your themes had a way to copy their settings and apply them to another installation. I manage multiple sights and use the PGTheme (hopefully the x_treme theme soon) and it's incredibly time consuming to match up the new installation with the settings I've used on old installations. There may be better ways, but here's how I might do it. At the bottom of the page, I'd have a button that says "copy settings to clipboard" (or something). And then I'd have a text box that you could paste these settings into and then a button that said "apply settings." The idea being that after you've done this, your settings page on your new site is exactly the same as the settings you copied. Just a cool thought.

Thanks.

Yes, the theme is not XHTML Compliant and hopefully, no one using the theme is showing that button that claims pages are compliant. PGTheme is also not compliant. Both theme will need some major rewrite to make them compliant although the code should not include the button for people that do not know.

On your second issue, it is possible to turn them off. I decided to stick with PGTheme but when I was trying this one, I found an option in theme admin to disable it

Your feature request would be cool. Since the theme parameters must be stored on the database somewhere, if someone could tell you which table it is, then it should be easy to save the relevant stuff and upload it to another install.

Is no one going to take this seriously?

My server log is full of this error
Cannot use a scalar value as an array in /var/www/html/gallery2/modules/core/Callbacks.inc on line 65

Just by doing a google search, there are three other sites i have found with the same error and they obviously have their debug mode on i guess.

http://www.deftz.de/picstore/gallery-2.2-rc-2/main.php?g2_itemId=917

http://martins-fotopage.de/v/west_highland_way/drumquhassle-rowardennan/DSCN1384.jpg.html

Doesn't anybody know how to fix this? i only got it after switching to the extreme theme,
so i don't consider modifying the gallery core files to be a valid solution unless the mod is posted by the gallery2 team.

Not to be stupid, but the download comes out as x_treme_pack_full. Inside that are two folders, one called modules and one called themes. Do these get installed in the respective Gallery2 folders? If so, then I assume each sub-folder (colorpack, icons, imageframe, and slideshow) gets the items installed respectively. Correct?

Or is it all installed in the theme folder?

Here is the permissions on the folder :

And here is all the theme settings,

Well from the screen shots it is working.
What actions do you want the Guests to have?
I don't think you want the Guest to move, delete, highlight and reorder items?
I do think you want them to send ecards, and get the urls (assuming 3rd party get urls module)
You need to give permissions for the EVERYBODY user to send ecards for that album, as well as permissions for the EVERYBODY user to get the urls info.

I hope I understand your question. I don't think it is related to this theme. Try the matrix theme and see if it gives you the action items you desire for the guest.

If I change to Carbon theme everything works fine, i.e the guest can view, the owner can edit/delete/add and the admin can admin, BUT when i am in the xtreme theme (Which i LOVE :) ).... the guest can view, the admin can admin, but the owner can't get the "ITEM ACTIONS" for the photos or albums like the admin can.

There is a bug in the display that means the Album Titles do not line up correctly in Safari and also, the theme fails the XHTML and CSS validation test at http://validator.w3.org.

To fix the Album title bug, this property in color.css

.giTitle, #gallery h2, #gallery h3, #gallery h4
{
font-size: 1.3em;
font-weight: bold;
}
needs to be changed to

.giTitle, #gallery h2, #gallery h3, #gallery h4
{
font-size: 1.3em;
font-weight: bold;
text-align: center;
}
There are some other bits that need changing in either color or theme.css depending on whether the user displays stuff on the album page or not.

The CSS validation failure seems to be due to the use of the gallery a property but haven't looked into it in detail.

These validation failures mean that different browsers will give unexpected results and the theme should be adjusted not to display the XHTML Valid button.

Cheers.

- I had the same problem using safari. After adjusting everything as discribed, text under an album ist displayed correctly. However, the drop-down-boxes for album-actions won't move :-(
How can I make them appear centered?

- The album-title displayed under the album-picture is "giTitle". I'd like this text to appear in white, not brown, so I changed the settings in color.css and when this didn't work in theme.css.
apperently, this element should be "giTitle", but is handled by gallery like a Link (with hover etc-settings).

Can anybody help me with this?

Thanks for your work and sorry for my english,
cheers from Germany

You do not have to apologise for your English. I am glad my tip partially helped but I no longer run this theme so never investigated the other items that are out of sync.

Try downloading firefox and getting the web developer addon...you might be able to find which items need changing.

**********EDIT FOR VERSION 1.0.1************
The edit given above is for V1.00. Pedro has updated the theme to v1.01 and this no longer applies. For v1.01, change

#gallery p {
    margin: 0.06em 0;
    padding: 0;
}

to

#gallery p {
    margin: 0.06em 0;
    padding: 0;
   text-align: center;
}

In theme.css.

Again this only applies to the titles in Safari and works as normal for other browsers anyway. Good luck!

Thanks for all the hard work you have put into PGTheme and this theme.

I have not looked at the latest offering but on the XHTML valid issue, I suggest you just disable the code that displays the button that claims it is.

Cheers anyway

Thanks mate...so far, so good.
i will continue checking server logs over the next days.

I still haven't got an answer to making the microthumbnails the square. I noticed some user sites i have visited, square microthumbnail all the same size.
Mine have difference sizes depending on if the photo is portrait or landscape,.....

How do i have square microthumbnails please?

1) uncheck: ALBUM - Items :: Show button to display floating Info

2) is nothing to do with the theme you could crop the thumbnails yourself,
or use Square Thumbnails Module: http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Download#Modules

Hi welldone on a great theme, But as is usual with posts here i am actually after some help.

I seem to have probs with the Video/flash items playing within this theme.

The .Flv video files play but they cannot resize to play at the correct video resolution, either 640 x 480 or 480 x 640

So they end up just playing in the small video player all scrunched up, hmm did not explain well

for an example please clicks here http://vwpete.redcloudtech.com.au/photo/main.php?g2_itemId=13536

That video is actually 640x480 in the matrix the video player is the same size but once you click play the video player resizes to 480 x 640 but in this xtreme theme it does not resize.

Any help on this is much appreciated

I know its a prob with the theme as when i use matrix theme i do not have the problem, as a side note i am using pglightbox as my main theme.

I turned off all performance enhancement (caching, including the .tpl files)

I then downloaded another copy of gallery2 backup folder using svn

“svn checkout https://gallery.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gallery/trunk/gallery2”

I also did a svn update on my actual gallery install

I then copied the flashvideo folder from the svn install over my current install (path gallery2/modules/flashvideo/ ) and selected uninstall, reinstall in the site admins plugins page.

I then did a check and all is well lovit

I just installed your latest zip but I still can't play flash video files (FLV) using the flash video plugin. The video player is displayed in the preview window but the controls don't respond because the preview navigation controls (previous, full size and next) overlay the player.

Hello, I am trying to display a welcome message using default.tpl on the first page. I can get it to display when in administrator mode. But when in guest mode, it does not display. I have tried permissions as well as all kinds of settings inside the theme, but cannot get it to display as a normal guest or Everybody user. Anyone have an idea of what settings need to work together to let the first page default.tpl display for users?

There are two sections to the default.tpl. At the top is some code, which checks to see if you are logged in as Admin, if you are then it displays some extra info.

Make sure you put your message at the bottom os the file, under all the code. Or, if you do not need the Admin only stuff, then you can delete everything inside that file and just put your text.

Okay,

I have a couple of issues that I am trying to resolve with x_treme theme; it looks fine within IE (centered) but within Firefox (Mac or PC) it is not centered; why; and what part of the theme.css do I need to update.

Thanks

Upgrade issue from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1

Hi,

I have a Gallery 2.2.1 install that worked very nicely with x_treme 1.0.0.

I install 1.0.1 by un-taring the archive, then went through the G2 upgrade process.

No I have a lot of CSS styling dumped on the top of the page before the gallery is properly displayed.

I removed all x_* directories and un-tared again, in order to get rid of potentially old files. Same issue.

I checked the file permissions, same issue.

I went to the theme settings and saved them again. Same issue.

I delete caches (templates, etc...). Same issue.

I am a bit at loss there. What would you suggest?

You can take a look at it by yourself there:

Debian Etch
PHP 5.2.0-8+etch3
Apache 2.2.3(Debian)
Gallery 2.2.1
x_treme theme 1.0.1
MySQL 5.0.32

Try to over-write the /templates/style.tpl with the one in the zip archive again.
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Editing_Templates
Looks to me like you added some <style> tags that are not needed.
Oh, on closer inspection. the version on the download is: $Revision: 1074 $
and you have: $Revision: 1043 $ See:

I had not edited any template myself, adding any <style> tags or other.

But your version mismatch was spot-on! Many thanks for this quick reply.

I used the .zip archive and cleared the template cache. And voila! Fixed!

I will take this opportunity to signal a new bug, then.

I had used the tar.gz file. This file, and I checked again, has revision 1043.
The .zip file has revision 1044, the correct version.

That was open source at its best.

Love this theme, it's so gorgeous and powerful!

I have a question -- is it possible to have the description for the album show up somewhere on photo pages? I don't see that option anywhere.

Ok, I removed everything having to do with this theme and then reinstalled it all, and the side menu still will not show up. I no longer get the Java Error, just no menu...

What is the option you selected to use with mouse right click, and what blocks did you select to sidebar?
