OK, first I want to thank the author of this great software for his work. Its really a great PostNuke Module (or standalone app)!!
Second: I had half a day installing this thing, but the installation wizard is great and i found nearly all the information for my problems here on this website. Great support!!
But (third) I still couldnt get jhead and zipinfo/unzip get to work. If i want see the picture properties or if i want to upload a zip file with pictures i get this error (debug mode is on of course):
Processing status...
Executing: /home/mexikot/public_html/app/unzip542x/zipinfo -1 /tmp/php58WuKi
Results: none
Error messages:
sh: /home/mexikot/public_html/app/unzip542x/zipinfo: No such file or directory
Status: 127 (expected 0) No images uploaded!
BUT the file is there! In both cases the file is there but it doesnt recognise it. And the are both CHMOD 777, so executable. And I downloaded for both apps the Linux binary version. In the controlpanel of my provider i read:
OS: Linux
Apache Version: 1.3.26 (Unix)
So I guess I took the correct versions.
Does anyone know what i missed???

Try checking the FAQ, <!-- BBCode Start --><A HREF="http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=GalleryDocs&file=index&page=gallery1-install.faq.c.php" TARGET="_blank">section 4.29</A><!-- BBCode End --> in particular.

Thanks for this suggestion. I did read it but I'm not totally sure what this means. From what I understand this means that there is no error... but in my case when i upload a zip file, the images wont display and when i click "image properties" there is no exif data from jhead, just the error. so somehow these applications dont work. any other suggestions? thanks a lot.

It means that Gallery is expecting a return status of '0' which is the
default and what you left it at during the configuration. What you should
try is changed the expected return status field to '127' which is what it's
returning. Also, if you have shell access, you should try to manually execute
the commands, just like Gallery is doing (cut -n- paste in other words)
and verify that that is the only problem.

i did find the solution. if you download and upload using ftp and the "automatic transfer mode" that it somehow doesnt work. if you set it to binary manually than it works. somehow the jhead file got messed up. hope its the same with the unzip software...
