Hello,
I have been trying to add keywords separated by commas, semicolons, and spaces to my photos so that visitors can use the "Search" tool. Nothing seems to work. When I go to search the words that I entered, the page comes up blank. What am I missing?
I'm no techie, so please keep it simple.
Thanks.

Hello Andrew,

so the search function does not work at all, right?
Maybe its FAQ: Why do I get the error Allowed memory size of Xxx bytes exhausted?

Hi Jens,

Thanks for replying.
I'm not getting any error message. When I search for a keyword, the search page comes up, but without any images. Everything 'seems' to be working. What is the proper format for attaching keywords to photos (separated by commas, semicolons, or spaces)? Should they be entered into "Keywords" or "Description" or does it matter?
Thanks
Andrew

Hi,

try to search for album, or photo names. That should also match.
If it does not match, then we/you know the search does not work at all.

What we can also do, is to test this in my Testgallery, so i can investigate..
For that please go to http://jems.de/gallery-legacy login with test/test.
Create your own album, upload a photo and do the same as you did on you own gallery.

Hi Jens,

[i]I created the test gallery as you suggested and the search worked fine. It's titled Andrew.
My gallery is located here http://www.photosbybailini.com/gallery/albums.php
The keywords I have entered so far are laura, koza, simon

I tried searching album and photo names, but still no results.

If I upgraded to G2, would all my albums, links and settings remain or would I have to redo everything?

Thanks again,
Andrew

AAAAAAAAAH !!!

Over 29K photos !
Its definitely a memory issue. You just do not see the errormessage.

Gallery 1.x was not designed for that huge amount of photos.
If you dont have HIGH memory settings in your PHP configuration you have problems with 5K photos and above.

Gallery 2 scales MUCH better. There are installations out there with over half a million photos. :-)

You dont have to redo everything.

There is no upgrade from G1 -> G2.
What you do is a migration.
You install G2 totally separate and then import the G1 data.
