I have just purchased Adobe Elements 5. I have over 500 images and I have cataloged each with tags, keywords, favorites and captions. I remember visiting Gallery2 forum not too long ago and someone was asking questions about Adobe Elements 5. My question is how does Gallery2 interact with Adobe Elements 5? Will any of the templates show this information under or around the photo? Also what would be the most feature functional template for Elements 5?

It doesn't. There's no G2 <-> Adodbe Elements plugin or the like.

Depends on how Adobe Elements stores the keywords. In IPTC metadata? Or in some custom adobe format?

I see the IPTC metadata in descriptions and titles and if I check both they replicate the IPTC . How do I remove the file name from all images? And Add a Product number I have made for all images?

I started writing a script to do just this - the details can be found at http://gallery.menalto.com/node/59517.
It isnt quite polished yet, and is unlikely to be for a while. Uni started again before I was able to get it to a polished state (Full time work + part time studies + rest of life leaves little time for playing with gallery).
My original intention was to write a script that uploaded every photo in Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 to a "Master" gallery, and then create links to other galleries, to replicate the functionality in Photoshop Elements where a single photo can be in multiple "collections" without the physical photo being duplicated.
Unfortunately there is no API for linking in Gallery 2. Someone assured me it was easy to write one, but I couldnt work out how to do it (nor could I find someone willing to help me), so I gave up on that approach.
Instead, now it will upload the photo to the "Master" gallery, and then again to a new gallery for every "Collection" it belongs to in Adobe Photoshop Elements. This is very wasteful, as there is much duplication in uploading and storage on your web server.
If linking API is ever added, I'll be quick to update the script to utilise it, which will make this script very useful. I have created a feature request for this - if you'd like to vote for it, you can vote for feature 1662981 at http://gallery.menalto.com/sfvote/vote .

This would make work so much easier, as I have my complete collection in PSE5.
Completely cataloged and ready for publishing...
Now that's where Gallery2 comes in, it would be nice if Gallery2 was able to import all information I wrote into the pictures (IPTC that is).
All photo's are stored in different folders (dirs), have all the tags and properties written within them, so the best way would be if Gallery could read all those folders (and thus read also the IPTC data) and create albums according to those folders.
Another option would be if an export from PSE5 could be imported into Gallery2.
Anything would be nice to make work easier and with over 40.000 images, well it means a day off every now and then..

Well, the script I wrote does work, there is just a bit of duplication involved (or more if the image is in several collections). I wont consider the script to be finished (and truly useful) until there is some kind of Linking API for me to use.
Like I said before - you can vote for this feature, to increase the chances of someone working on it. The details for voting are included in my previous posting.

Pix2Gallery2 has functionality to upload to Gallery 2 from Photoshop Elements 5 (PSE), and its much better then that script I wrote earlier this year. (Pix2Gallery2 has a pretty GUI).
At the moment the functionality is pretty limited - it will upload a Collection from PSE to an album in Gallery 2, retaining the collection structure maintained in PSE. Only captions are uploaded at the moment - no tag/keyword functionality yet, although I hope to implement that soon.

Actually, I tell a lie. Pix2Gallery2 *will* upload Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 tags, so long as the "Write Tag and Properties Info to Photos" function is used.

reviving a dead thread, sorry - just wanted to let folks know that I decided to try it for the heck of it and the following works:
open Gallery Remote and PSE organizer
Login and select/create the folder you want to upload to in Gallery Remote.
Select the photos you want to upload in PSE's organizer (can view just certain tagged items or whatever - I select by star rating and people and turn off "view all files" in folder view so I'm not looking at all 5000 pictures in the organizer - then go to edit->select all).
arrange the program windows so you can see both Gallery Remote and PSE at the same time
Drag your selected photos to Gallery Remote and click upload.
Since I don't use collections and don't always star pictures, I find this a much more elegant solution over pix2gallery2. Can do it without touching the keyboard if the folder is already created when my 5mo is fussing in one arm.

I'm a bit obsessive about sorting my pictures so everything is in subalbums (the site I've tested the technique on is my family photo album - images are displayed by primary category - family pictures, crafts, or family tree, then the family pictures folder has subfolders for each year and each year folder has subfolders for each month, and a few of the months have subfolders for specific events). I forgot to have PSE write the tags to the photo properties the time I used this technique so not sure if it imports the tags or not for sure (pix2gallery2 does). One issue I'm having (and notbeen able to isolate where the problem is creeping in) is that some photos from my cell phone camera get the creation date messed up, but there are several software steps involved in getting those online (phone software that imports the pictures to the computer, PSE, gallery remote, gallery) so I'm not even sure it's relevant to this but it irks me ;)
