The following information is required to get an answer:
Gallery version: 1.5.6
Apache version: 1.3.34
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): 4.4.0-4
Graphics Toolkit: ImageMagick
Operating system: Debian
A friend of mine had been hosting some photos for her brother, but now he's got his own gallery set up. Is it possible to easily move the entire album of his photos over to his newly set up gallery, or will he need to re-import all of the photos somehow?

It *should* be possible if you copy the albums folder. (not 'the' main albums folder, the folders containing the albums you want to move.)
Of course the other Gallery must also be a Gallery 1 ;-)

Hrm. Ok, that does work. Now I have a new problem.
I tried moving an album from her gallery into mine, and it transfered ok. but I didn't mind the permissions, and when i then subsequently moved it to a sub album, i ended up with a copy in the main gallery,a nd one in the sub folder. I then fixed the permissions, deleted it from the main gallery, went to the sub galelry to find an error as such:
When I try to run the find orphans command on the admin panel, it spins a while, then offers to let me download the php file.
I upgraded from 1.5 to 1.5.6, and ran the upgrade on all the albums, but this did not solve the problem.
Help!

All Gallery albums are on the same level.
What do you mean with "moved it into a sub album" ?

Sorry. I attempted to move it from the main page to underneath one of the other existing albums. (Not at the file level, in the gallery):

You can see the errored entries down at the bottom.

What is the procedure for moving albums?
I am in a fixed right now. my gallery all of a sudden generated an error so I installed another gallery which is the latest version - 2.2.1 and decided to move the albums to this new installation but somehow the photos will not appear in the new installation even if the files and the directories were succesfully copied.
This is what I did:
1. Created an album in the new installation with the same directory name with the album I want to move.
2. chmod the directory and the files I want to move to 777 and successfully moved them to the new installation.
However, as I have said the album will not display the photos and appears empty.
What else needs to be done?
Gallery version: 2.2.1
Apache version: 1.3.37 (linux)
PHP version: 5.0.5
Graphics Toolkit: ImageMaick
OS: Linux

I don't suppose anyone has an answer to my original question? I still have the two "ghost" albums.
