@valiant - I have the same problem as tmn at 110mb.com. An FTP to the host will work but results in deleted .htaccess (and *.pl-Files). This leads to a file integrity warning in step 3 and the installation stops at step 8.
As a result, without .htaccess files G2 cannot be installed. Looking for help or another host...

as long as the file integrity warning only lists .htaccess files, you can ignore it.
if you have an installation error, please create a new forum topic and attach your installation log in that new topic.

you don't need the .htaccess files. you just lose some features.
