I'm running the most recent version of Gallery, and one thing I've noticed lately is that the "From local server" option of uploading has disappeared from the tabs for adding items. I went to a default template just to see if it was a template issue but the default template had the same problem.

I've used the option before, and successfully, to mass upload items into my gallery, but now I don't even see the option. I don't think it's that I've changed to the latest version, but that I've switched web hosts.

Looking at instructions in Gallery2 documentation, it says to enable the Item Add plugin (something I don't see on my plugin list), but it also adds "not required before G2.2." What does this mean?

Gallery version (not just "2"): 2.2.1 core 1.2.0.1
PHP version (e.g. 4.3.11): 4.4.6 cgi
PHPInfo Link (see FAQ):
Webserver (e.g. Apache 1.3.33): Apache
Database (e.g. MySql 4.0.11): mysql 4.1.21-standard
Activated toolkits (e.g. NetPbm, GD): NetPBM, Thumbnail, Gd, ImageMagick, ArchiveUpload
Operating system (e.g. Linux): Linux
Browser (e.g. Firefox 1.0): Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.11) Gecko/20070312 Firefox/1.5.0.11

Same here: Fresh install of the latest gallery developper version (stable, not nightly) and only one tab in the Add Items screen. No "upload from local server" or anything else, just upload from computer. I have added an allowed path on the local server in the Site Administration. The Add Item module is activated.

Gallery version is 2.2.1

Have 2.2.1 as well. The default installation I had did not install the Add Items module so I had download, install and activate it first. That should add a Web/Server option under Import in the Admin screen. Then go there and make sure it's Enabled up top by allowing at least Admins the ability to use both Add From Web and Add From Server. Then you need to add a directory below that matches an absolute path on the server.. for example I entered /home/(user)/public_html/upload .

Perhaps the paths changed when changing hosts.

While browsing the list of plugins available on the Gallery site, I could have sworn I did a search and find for "Add Item". Searching there again, I found Add Items. It's possible I searched for "Item Add" or searched too quickly before the page loaded (although I'd be willing to bet it was the first theory). I downloaded the plugin and now everything works as it should. Many thanks. :D
