Ok, I am really disappointed with what Im having to deal with. I really want to use G1.5.6 instead of G2.

My problem and complaint, is that when I install G1, everything was great. Now when I attempted to upload photos to the Gallery. I get that error that is sooooo common on this Verison of G1. That error is "Error: Unable to make thumbnail (0)" and Yes, Yes I know about exec having to be ENABLED on the host server to be able to upload images to the Gallery.

BUT....

When I installed G2 and I got the ServerCheck part of the config wiz. It says that exec is allowed. Sooo.... I decided to finish the install and then attempt to upload some photos to Gallery2. Well, What do you know??? It works. I can upload photos in G2.

Now...

My question is, Why does this have to happen? lol

My Wish/Suggestion/Feedback: Can somebody Please contact the Developer on fixing the current G1.5.6 version or fix the upcoming G1.6 version to bypass/allow exec and other configurations, like it does in G2?? I mean jeez, G1 is to much of a headache and the requirements to run G1 are completely asinine. Can they come up with some kind of a work around with this stupid exec bs, Im mean this is the only Gallery that limits some people from using it because of their hosting configurations, which for one, we should not even be asking to alter, Some hosts wants to keep security inplace and running. This version needs to not depend on these configurations at all. Whatever the developers did to G2 that bypasses this requirement, should also be done in G1 versions.

Please Help/Respond. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Myst

Hello,

the developer(me) is reading this.

I dont understand why you wan to use Gallery 1 if "G1 is to much of a headache and the requirements to run G1 are completely asinine".
Check out our patch tracker for GD mods.

To implement GD in Gallery 1.x is not on my plan before 1.7 which will be around march next year.

My whole purpose for even posting about my horrible troubles was to try and atleast let YOU know that they're people out there that enjoy using G1 because it is basic and works perfectly with Nuke CMS. I DID have a host about 3 years ago and my site then used G1, which worked. But I hate the fact that this great gallery is limited and uses to much host configurations to get this damn thing to run. For christ sake, run this gallery without using the host as your partial base just to get this thing working. I like and Hate it. But I really do like this gallery.

Yea, Well... You should consider it, since so many people have this very same problem. And this is my suggestion for your upcoming version. I mean, this is what this forum is for, correct?

Welp, Thanks for responding.

Thank you very much for the link. =] Now since I got this, how can I implement this into gallery so I can check it?

I tried to make a search on the forums for gd_mod and only showed up 2 and in those 2 results I didn't see How to use this mod, How to configure it into gallery, How to install it, or anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. =]

Thanks,

Myst
