I desperately need your help... V1 problems

I am currently running gallery v1 (atleast that is what it says at the bottom) on many websites. My host recently upgraded his server and now I cannot upload any photos to any site. The error I get is not really an error. It just tells me that the zip folder I tried to upload has been archived. Then when I try to use another form of uploading, it gives me an actual error saying that it was unable to create thumbnails.

I have upgraded ImageMagick and that didn't help. I have also tried to upgrade to a newer version of the gallery but can't figure out how to do it without losing my info. The photos that are currently on there do not appear to be in any database so I cannot back it up.

I guess I am too much of an amateur to do this right. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? And if possible give me some direction in laymans terms.
