I'm trying to upgrade from 2.2.1 to 2.2.2 using the Patch method.
Here is my current configuration:

Database = mysqlt 4.0.27-standard-log, lock.system=flock
Toolkits = NetPBM, Thumbnail, Gd

Default theme = matrix
gettext = enabled
Locale = en_US

Rows in GalleryAccessMap table = 58

I'm using putty and running the command:
patch -p0 -s < patch-core.text

mot quite sure what's going wrong there.
i suggest you use the "replace changed files" approach, unzip the core module.zip that is in the 2.2.1->2.2.2 archive over your g2.
