I've spent about 3-4 hours trying to get this up & running.
I'm getting these errors in the Instal Wizard and don't know how to fix:

/* Constants */
Error: Directory paulaocallaghan.sslpowered.com/paulaocallaghan.com/paintings does not exist. Please create it.

Error: Directory paulaocallaghan.sslpowered.com/paulaocallaghan.com/temppaintings does not exist. Please create it.

Error: I can't find NetPBM at the location you provided.
Gallery prefers NetPBM version 9.9 and up. You can install just the binaries Gallery needs from the Gallery Download Page. Or, you can compile and install the entire NetPBM package from the NetPBM website.

Any help?

Thanks

hello,

"paulaocallaghan.sslpowered.com/paulaocallaghan.com/paintings" is a strange path but could be.

At what path is your Gallery lying?

Thanks for replying!
Maybe this is what I'm confused about.

ON the ftp the folders run
www to www.paulaocallaghan.com . Then the folder for gallery is there, in the www.paulaocallaghan folder.

/www/paulaocallaghan.com/gallery

I put the netpbm folder there in the gallery folder.
I noticed in the instal wizard that the paths to the 'albums' had the site listed as
www.paulaocallaghan.sslpowered.com . So , i've tried both ways- the path with & without the sslpowered.
I've also tried putting the 'paintings' directory in different places.

Thanks,
~*Beth

We're getting closer.

/www/paulaocallaghan.com/gallery
Thats the PATH to your Gallery.

www.paulaocallaghan/gallery
Thats the URL to your Gallery.

I guess you created the "paintings" folder via ftp, right?
Where did you do that?

OK- I will try again later tonight.
Yes- I created the folder via the site tools file manager provided on the webhosts webpage.

Thanks so much. I hope i can get this- I think it could be very useful for my client.

Okay, on the same level as your Gallery?

If yes the PATH is: /www/paulaocallaghan.com/paintings
The URL is www.paulaocallaghan/paintings

Enter /tmp as temporary folder

It's still not working.

In my ftp:
level one: has 2 folders- cgi-bin & www
level two in the www folder: has index.htm & folder named paulaocallaghan.com
level three in paulaocallaghan.com: has gallery , index.htm & paintings folder
level four in the gallery folder: has all the downloaded gallery files, the netpmb- 10.26.44, and the paintings & tmp folders.

Still getting these 3 errors:
Error: Directory /www/paulaocallaghan.com/paintings does not exist. Please create it.
Error: Directory /www/paulaocallaghan.com/tmp does not exist. Please create it.
Error: You must specify a path for netpbm or ImageMagick for Gallery to function!!

In location & urls in the install wizard:
for album directory: /www/paulaocallaghan.com/paintings
temp directory:/www/paulaocallaghan.com/tmp
Gallery url: http://paulaocallaghan.sslpowered.com/paulaocallaghan.com/gallery
Albums url: http://paulaocallaghan.sslpowered.com/albums

I hope this makes clear what I'm missing.
Thank you so much for your help.

Thanks for the URL, so i could look up the real PATHes.

Gallery Path: /mnt/w0401/d40/s41/b02b87bd/www/paulaocallaghan.com/gallery
Albums Path: /mnt/w0401/d40/s41/b02b87bd/www/paulaocallaghan.com/paintings

Just enter /tmp as path to the temporary folder.

Great! That's working. Where did you find the path?

So, would the netpmb be the same? I tried but am getting another error:

$gallery->app->pnmDir = "/mnt/w0401/d40/s41/b02b87bd/www/paulaocallaghan.com/netpmb";
Error: I can't find NetPBM at the location you provided.

Thanks!

no- I didn't get it figured out.
Still getting this:

$gallery->app->pnmDir = "/mnt/w0401/d40/s41/b02b87bd/www/paulaocallaghan.com/netpmb";
Error: I can't find NetPBM at the location you provided.

I opened the netpmb folder and clicked on configure and some other things.
This may all just be too much beyond my knowledg base :(

You've been very helpful though!

Hello Beth,

you didnt do your homework. It seems you did no research at all, or not much. :-|

Gallery needs the netpbm (not netpmb) or ImageMagick binaries. It looks like your downloaded the sourcecode for NetPBM.
You have now two possibilities.

1.) Ask your hoster to install one of those tools (very recommended !!)
2.) Install Netpbm on your own. (Because for ImageMagick you would need access to the command line)

To do 2.)
Go to the download page of additional binaries for Gallery.
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=7130&package_id=14464
You have a FreeBSD System (you can see that in the phpinfo)
So please download 'netpbm_gallery-1.4-pl2-freebsd-4.8.zip'
Unzip it and upload the files to your netpbm folder.
Make sure the files are executable (chmod them if needed)
The enter the correct path to the Netpbm files in the setup.
