Is there already or anything in the works for a email after comment left module?
I have many users and I think this is very important, for them to have to login and view recent comments to see if they have recieved any is a bit of a task. I think this would go a long way in keeping members active and replying to comments given, that as of now, as far as I know the dont even know they recieved...

I have searched high and low for any information on this subject with no results.
Anyone with information or help, please let me know..
I really find it hard to believe this has not been implimented at this point???
Thanks..
Marcus.

Thanks dave, I did follow your links and saw some work in progress but what was there was taken down, and seems like the project stalled? I do have the notification module that came with 2.2 and it lets users know a new photo was added to the site if the subscribe to the watch on the main page, I was more intrested in a comment eamil notification, which would let a member know when a comment was left on one of there photos, this to me is very important as its generates interaction, as at this point unles a user logs on and hits view latest comments or searches though there photos, they have know idea a comment has been left, a feature that most of the really good hosting and posting sites have such as Usefilm, which i was a member for years, there notification email not only contains the text but a small photo thumb of the photo commented on as well as a reply link back, really nice, I am only hoping to find a way to just let them know so and so left you a comment, so they could go look, and comment back...
If you do know of anyway I can have this implemented, or im missing something please let me know..
Thanks again..
Marcus

No not really. I downloaded it just now with G2.2.2 via downloadable plugins.
Seems that there is not an event listener added for comments. It does work for added items however.

So if you know some coding then I guess you could add another event listener for comments to be notified. That is the design I suspect.

Development of a http://akismet.com/ module for comments is ongoing. There have been some talk about that module would talk to the notification module.
One of the things that was said was "we might be swapping comment spam for email notification spam." Perhaps a digest version if you get a lot of comments would be helpful.

Thanks Dave, I guess most are using gallery for personal use and this is not a big deal, I have 17 members posting on my site and relized that without comment emails, comments would go unnoticed and very few are replied to.
To me this is probably one of the most important issues I can think of, I have close to 60 nature photographers on a waiting list to join, but i dont see a way to let them as the 17 I have now are already asking day after day when they will get comment emails.
I was thinking this would be an easy update, but after days of reading I see It would take someone many hours of code and testing to implement this, I only wish i had the knowledge to do it myself, I really do hope this is a future implementation as you cant really run a true photo hosting site with members without it....

Thanks again..
Marucs.
